What if St. Pastry Order came to be AFTER the fall of the Vanilla Kingdom? (Evidences of it so far)
Firstly, let's do some important stuff and establish the timeline and place.
If you notice, Doughael is praying in what's possibly the ruins of the Vanilla Kingdom with candles lit.
The place is atleast near the kingdom/around the raisin hills where he meets Pure Vanilla too
Since Pure Vanilla Cookie's hair is completely fine and clean unlike how disheveled and unclean it later became, this encounter must be in his earlier days as Healer.
So their ties def go a long way back.
Now interestingly.. Pure Vanilla Cookie used to be offered candles as well if you look at the Timeless Kingdom Sprites as well.
If you notice the candles in particular... Do you see something similar amongst these pictures?
This leads me to believe Doughael here was praying for or perhaps to Pure Vanilla himself which is why he instantly knew who Healer was and specifically came to the Raisin hills:
What's more interesting is, he seems to also take up the role of a Prophet.
Does this imagery seem familiar?
And ONE VERY INTERESTING FRAME
Look at these:
Right after the middle frame, his eyes lit up as he opened them almost like...he found his purpose.
This leads me to the theory, after the horror of Dark Flour War and the fall of the kingdom.. not all denizens of the Vanilla kingdom left for Creme Republic and some stayed behind for multiple or personal reasons just like Custard's grandfather holding onto hope of PV's return
This hope was carried on by many cookies as even in present day, you can find pilgrims searching for Pure Vanilla as he was truly a beloved figure.
But what the older pilgrims sayā¦may come off as what they witnessed after-war.
That they didn't see a lively place for ages.
And after Pure Vanilla Cookie's death, the remaining population of the Vanilla kingdom who stayed despite the war...didn't have anything to hold on to for even their last hope, their beacon and hope, Pure Vanilla Cookie died himself.
This leads me to the belief, in those trying and painful times of hopelessness and helplessness, Doughael cookie emerged. To rally the masses closer to their faith and the teachings of Pure Vanilla Cookie
However...with a twist to them.
It is a common fact that War often drives people to be superstitious or even very religious for it is easier to believe in a Higher Existence's fate design than accept the man-made disasters and horrors of reality Perhaps Doughael simply took advantage of that fact.
Doughael might have come with good intentions BUT the path to hell is often paved by good intentions. He also refers to his followers as "Flock" and guess who is known for his love for sheep and was a shepherd?
I believe Doughael's ultimate interest was in seeking the divine truth and who could provide him that other than the Beacon of Truth himself? Perhaps that is why...he modelled it after Pure Vanilla cookie himself... In efforts to revive him...
This is why you keep seeing parallels between Pure Vanilla Cookie and AOD: "the Avatar of Destiny", the deity whom the Order reveres too deeply to the point of sacrificing their very soul even when in doubt
The Members need quite a lot of mental gymnastics inorder to justify this madness even as you can see here: They aren't ready to end it all mentally but will do so because they have been brainwashed into thinking it's the higher cause.
This is where the "All dough shall be one" ideology comes in.
For after the war, seeing the different suffering for different people.. Doughael might have come to the conclusion if everyone was one...then the pain would be one and none as well.
To share the burden of pain.
The highest form of kindness.
A twist to Pure Vanilla Cookie's teaching which is:
After the death of Pure Vanilla Cookie, his words, his teachings, even his image itself might have been twisted to fit the narratives or mentality of the masses of the time. Not too unlike our real world itself where religions were twisted to fit with the people's agendas.
Perhaps this is why Avatar of Destiny shares so much parallels with Pure Vanilla in terms of appearance:
Perhaps that is why there are so many similarities down to the very eyelashes he has:
Perhaps this is the reason why even the waffle cone architecture and the Chapel itself is that similar to the Pure Vanillian one.
Because it was modelled after it.
Down to the light symbols that hung above the original.
Perhaps a lot of Vanillian descendants joined the Order... In order to preserve what little they had of their cultural roots now that their very religious head is gone with no heirs.
This was their ultimate way to carry on his teachings and even Witch worshipping ideology
Perhaps this is why Doughael's ultimate goal to complete AOD for that is their twisted ideological view of Pure Vanilla Cookie whom they have deemed as their God, their symbol, their inspiration, their Avatar.
All of this is to carry on what they believe PV would be happy with
This is why I think Pure Vanilla Cookie may not just have past ties with the Order or the founding members of it like Doughbael but this whole cult may be centred around him and his words to the point of worshipping him and reviving him.
Could Healer Cookie or well...Pure Vanilla Cookie have come back to life because Doughbael and his order's sacrifices? That is why they kept visiting him even during such time and look at knowingly? Could AOD be a dark secret of Pure Vanilla Cookie that he has hid purposely?
Was his revivation from the dead, the reason he lost his memories? Or could it be he CHOSE to? Is that why the light of truth asked him if he understood "HIS consequences of HIS actions"?
Could it be that Pure Vanilla Cookie eventually learnt how he became alive again and that despair of how lives costed that transgression of nature itself....is what led him to erase his memories himself? Just so he doesn't have to face the truth anymore?
Perhaps that is the reason why...the moment he was awakened by the light of truth itself...he calls him worthless and a failure to save lives of everyone including his friends?
Could Pure Vanilla Cookie be aware of the Order but has kept his mouth shut just to not relive the pain?
Could it be that Doughael is aware of his feelings? But he doesn't care and will carry on his "holy mission" regardless? Either way, all of this is a theory.

(DISCLAIMER: English is not my first language and I'm going this sleep deprived..)
yeah, with my handmade pictures.
so, first of all, Shadow Milk is not actually his father or parent at all (it doesn't make sense), he is his creator, some sort of. now, the explanation begins.
PART 1: flight of fancy
as we all know, fount of knowledge got tired of stupid cookies asking nonsense to him and blaming him for literally anything they don't like.
the story of creating a W.. no, not a "Wizard cookie", but a little , so called "Fibster cookie" starts from the time, then fount of knowledge was on the edge.
he couldn't believe how could cookies be so foolish, so selfish, so wrong? he was in denial - was this the great cookies he supposed to share knowledge with? does First Milk cookie even know what those idiots are? no, she probably wouldn't put him in this position if she knew.
day by day he questioned cookiekind more and more.
and then.. an idea came into his brilliant mind.
he CAN understand them and what in the life of a cookie goes wrong for them to be so stupid.
but for this, he needs to create a cookie from scratch - as an immortal being, he wanted to examine how cookie mind developes, from scratch to an adult. and see, if cookies are doomed by themselves or he can grow up a decent cookie and it's not really their fault.
my explanation of course is not as good as I want to be, but I hope you understand what he wanted to achieve and why!
PART 2: Schrƶdinger's dough
fount of knowledge started to create the cookie. he mixed together some basic components, but while doing this, he couldn't focus.
it was his breaking point.
he thought to himself - "why am I even trying to fool myself? why trying to understand? I see it clearly. I'm just making a mess. creating another little liar into this cursed world. a fibster... right, a Fibster. a little liar created with my bare hands."
(technically, Wizard's real name is Fibster cookie, since "Wizard" is something he decided to name himself.)
fount of knowledge had a breakdown, he left the dough in the milk lake and left. forgot about that silly idea after, thought, that this small, pathetic dough will forever rot in this witches forsaken lake without a chance to ever be alive, but..
actually, it's not a miracle but a consequence of leaving a dough in a some sort of magical fountain of milk.
Shadow Milk got sealed for a loot of ages, and every second of that time little dough absorbed a little bit amount of magic from the milk.
it took a while for our little Wizard to be "born", but he managed to absorb enough magical essence to replace the lack of other components with it, making him able to open his little adorable eyes for the first time.
the life of a Fibster begins!
PART 4: little peculiar waif
( NOTE: despite being official, crk comics are NOT cannon, I just used an image from it because for some reason he had a black eye outline here, and I thought it fits and is kind of funny)
Wizard cookie was found by some adventurers who took him away, and his early childhood was.. complicated.
he was smaller and weaker than others, had sharper teeth, strange eyes, and the most horrible thing for an other child - he preferred magic and learning instead of being a lil' goofball full of innocence.
since the age of 5-6 he started to cover his other eye, wear scarfs and be invested into magic.
after some time, he meets kids who are out of the group too (a shy strawberry and extra energetic and loud Gingerbrave), they become best friends forever, all that things.
PART 5: BaaderāMeinhof phenomenon
yeah, it's after the spire of knowledge, etc.
y'all probably know everything that happened anyways!
but after meeting Wizard cookie, Shadow Milk couldn't shake some strange feeling off.
at first, he thought that he just got amused by some smartass brat, but no. something about this kid, his aura or something bothered him.
so he started to stalk the poor kid, noticing his strange eye, his sharp teeth, his little strange behaviours and small lies.... lightbulb in his head couldn't shine, but then he remembered who is the cookie, that lies small. it's called a fibster! yeah..
so then he checked the fountain and couldn't see the dough, something in his wet head finally clicked - it might be HIS fibster!
PART 6: apocryphal.. or not?
family reunion, yaay?
so, Shadow Milk dashed to claim that is his own, and he bombed poor Wizard with all that info.
of course he didn't believe him, but it all came together.. logical enough?
of course it wasn't a wholesome moment, because Shadow Milk did this purely for his advantage - he lied about the purpose of creation, telling him that "oh my darling, I was soo stupid back then! just like Pure Vanilla - sentimental fool. I was so looonely and saaad, so I decided to create a kid to well.. take care of it or something? and guess what? blueegh.. I became attached to a child whom I didnāt even have time to create!"
there was a deal between them - Shadow Milk spends some time with his creation, teach him some advanced cool magic, brings smart as hell books, and as an exchange Wizard cookie should just keep that a little secret and listen to his teachings, read whatever he brings, sounds nice, right?
actually, Shadow Milk cookie just wanted to manipulate Wizard into his side, because if he does, Wizard would be an excellent spy, that could possibly help him take revenge on Pure vanilla greatly. and he might've missed teaching someone.. a bit.
THE END.
(au is called liar's lullaby now if you're interested)
so many people are upset and all about the story being badly written and all
BE HAPPY GINGERBRAVE STILL HAS NO PROPHECY THAT HE WILL SAVE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE DEVSIS ARE STILL GOING ON WITHOUT A DESTINED PROPHECY HERO THEY STILL HAVE IDEAS !
AND WE SHOULD RESPECT THEIR STORY CHOICES TOO, YOU CAN'T JUST ASSUME THE CHARACTER MAKING THE GAME POPULAR AGAIN WAS GOING TO DISAPPEAR / NOT HAVE A MAJOR ROLE

*INHALES DEEPLY* For all my fellow Shadow Milk Cookie fans STILL getting this confused
FOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE is what Shadow Milk Cookie was called BEFORE he got corrupted in the main CRK timeline
SAGE OF TRUTH is a version of Shadow Milk from an AU that is SEPARATE from the main timeline, where his and Pure Vanilla's roles are switched completely
(i.e. Sage of Truth being the truthful one and Truthless Recluse being deceitful, also in this AU SMC/Sage of Truth had nothing to do with PV becoming Truthless Recluse, unlike in the main timeline where SMC was the one who corrupted him, this time he was deceitful from the start)
I still could be wrong so let me know if I made a mistake in explaining the lore!
(Edit: Also added images to show the difference in appearance. Fount of Knowledge is on the left, Sage of Truth on the right. FOK image is from Pinterest (couldn't find credits) because SMC's pre-corruption form is never explicitly revealed in-game.)
You know, our first post was going to be fixing cookie biology because canon canāt seem to decide whether cookies have organs or not. Itās⦠actually incredibly funny to see sources go cookies work because magic and then Silent Salt say, āThe Cookie heart.ā Picking a lane would be great, my guys.Ā
So we opened the Cookie Run Kingdom wiki page on Cookies, the species. This was a mistake. Honestly we wanted to cry. We love the wiki, donāt get us wrong. Fantastic source of information. The reason we wanted to cry is because itās a conglomerate of all of the information over the years, and Cookie Run is infamous for being inconsistent. All right, cool. Where to start?Ā
We end up scrolling, and thereās a section called Divergences. Interesting, whatās in here? Well, the list goes as follows:Ā
Fig and Nutmeg Tiger - sure, centaurs definitely are divergences
Candlelight - not sure how a being made of wax counts as a cookie, but sure
Goblin - has extra pronounced fangs, good for them I guess
Merfolk and Tearcrown residents - yep, merfolk definitely count on this listĀ
Candy Diver - ⦠thatās just a ghost with an attitudeĀ
Aurora Candy - we would argue this is not a cookie, but you do you, Devsisters, weāll handle that laterĀ
Mercurial Knight - āthough appearing to be of a standard Cookie body made of mercury-infused dough, can melt into liquid mercury at will (Cookies, Cookie Run: Kingdom Wiki)ā
Choco Flounder - weāre just going to file this under Merfolk and call it a day because why?Ā
Did you catch it? No, not the centaurs. Not the wax. Not the ghost. The mercury. Apparently Mercurial Knight has the ability to melt into liquid mercury at will. What?!Ā
This dragged us down a bumpy ride that started in excuse me, why do you have that ability, sir??? and ended in why are the Witches even in this story right now??? Click below to keep reading as we show you through Aliceās rabbit hole to the truth of the invasive predators of Earthbread.
You might be wondering why Mercurial Knightās ability to change into liquid mercury even matters. He is Mercurial Knight Cookie, after all. Thatās kind of his thing.Ā
Well, hereās the problem: technically, it shouldnāt be possible to begin with.Ā
Letās start from the beginning: Who is Mercurial Knight Cookie?Ā
Mercurial Knight Cookie was released on February 7th, 2024 for the second half of the Secrets of the Silver Kingdom update. Heās an Epic Charge cookie, and the general of the Silver Knights who defend the Silver Tree in the Silver Kingdom. (Which⦠technically isnāt a kingdom because there is no king, only a Guardian by the title of Elder, which may also just⦠be his name(?) possibly. Not to mention itās called four separate names by canon materials depending on whether itās feeling political, ecological, magical, or just particularly indecisive that day, but we donāt need to get into that rant right now. For the sake of everyoneās sanity, we are going with the Silver Kingdom for todayāthe name of the actual updateāand moving on.) His ability is called Mercurial Knightās Oath, and fun fact! It has an extra buff that triggers whenever Silverbell is in battle with him called Silver Knighthood that also affects Elder Faerie and White Lily. Thatās⦠not exactly relevant to the discussion right now but we discovered this by reading the entry on his ability and thought it was cool, so⦠the more you know.Ā
Now Iām sure we have some readers looking at this going, why are you telling me all the stats stuff? Why is this important? Because none of this is setting off any red flags.Ā
A general.Ā
A knight.Ā
A strong Cookie.Ā
Sure, maybe heās a little odd, but there is a Space Doughnut running around with a cookie made of Stardust. Oddities are a dime a dozen here.Ā
But when you start looking into his military title, what his ability does, and exactly what the Silver Knights actually are, you start⦠noticing things. Nothing much. Just little⦠inconsistencies that donāt quite line up. Details that make you pause. Answers to questions that were never asked to begin with⦠and make you wonder why they needed to be asked at all.Ā
Letās pause our look at Mercurial Knight Cookie for a second and go look at his knights, yeah?Ā
Returning to the Cookie Run: Kingdom Wiki, you will find a beautiful page on the Silver Kingdom. Like, the wiki crew is legitimately impressive for collecting all of this and putting it up like this for people to read, and we do actually recommend reading it if youāre curious after this post. (Aside from the map. Weāre not touching the canon map today. Not unless you want me to rant for three hours and end up throwing my favourite tea cup at the wall.) Itās even split up in helpful sections! Geography, landscape, history, culture, denizens, and known denizens! Is it a little sparse on information? Yeah, but itās Cookie Run Kingdom. Thatās not on the wiki makers, thatās on Devsisters. Weāll likely expand all of the known locations later to have their own ecology and cultures, but thatās not todayās goals.Ā
Weāre going to focus on the Culture section right now. It has three sub categories: Silver Tree, Silver Tree Knights (with its own sub category of Known Silver Tree Knights), and Faerie Library. Wonderful! We already have our work made easy for us! The wiki has this to say on the Silver Tree Knights:Ā
āThe Silver Tree Knights are an order of knights dedicated to preserving the seal of the Silver Tree and protecting its guardian, Elder Faerie Cookie. Cookies in this order can be blessed with Silver, trading their unique flavor for the strength to carry out their mission. A prime example of this sacrifice is Mercurial Knight Cookie, whose flavor and scent were traded for cold metal long ago. According to Mercurial Knight Cookie, all Silver Tree Knights eventually grow to "look one and the same," and yet, he and Silverbell Cookie are visually distinct from the hordes of identical Knights seen throughout the kingdom. The knights have most likely disbanded after the events of Beyond the Horizon as there is no longer reason to protect the now empty Silver Tree.āĀ
⦠Right. Okay. So who here was aware that the Silver Tree was blessing its knights to eradicate their scent and flavour until they have nothing left but metal? Because that seems like something the Silver Kingdom updates kind of glossed over, yeah?Ā
Letās dissect this line by line.Ā
The Order of the Silver Tree, or the Silver Tree Knights, are a group of trained individuals who serve the purpose of defending Elder Faerie Cookie, the Guardian of the Silver Seal Tree (as called in Beast-Yeast Chapter 12 - The Silence of Conviction by Silent Salt), and the actual Silver Seal Tree itself because the Beasts have gone insane and abandoned their virtues. Mhm. Kay. Normal thing to do. Thatās fine.Ā
Now the wiki says that cookies in this order can be blessed with Silver, trading the flavour in their dough for metallic strength. This specific word ācanā will be disputed in a line or two, but weāre going to focus on the fact that this is acknowledged to be normal. Why? Do you understand the implications of this? Cookies are flavoured dough organisms with jam innards and soul matricesāa debate for another timeāthat find individualism and family jamlines through said flavour. And the Silver Tree removes that. Right. That means you are anatomically disassembling and reassembling each Silver Knight to remove all traces of the former recipe, whether it be Witch-made, Wizard-made, or Sugar Swan-descended (again, a topic for another time) and replace it with inedible Silver in such a way that not only does not destroy the cookie, but allows them to continue moving and functioning as if they were a normal cookie.Ā
āBut itās magic!ā I hear some of you crying out. āMagic does that!āĀ
Yes, our dear readers. It is magic. That is not our concern here. The how is easy to explain. Where they got magic with these capabilities and why it is being used is not. But we can get into canonās⦠lacklustre explanation in another post. Because yes, we do have thoughts on the matter.Ā
The prime example of this Silver Blessing process is apparently Mercurial Knight Cookie. We just addressed that Mercurial Knight can melt into liquid mercury. No other Silver Knight can do this. Um⦠Thatās not a small detail, and definitely has implications that might be best saved for a part two because this is already 1440 words long at that number and there is so much evidence packed into this post alone that it would be actively unjust to try and fit it all here in one post. But trust me, we have some lore to continue digging into on Mercurial Knight.Ā
Keep in mind that nowhere in canon does it state that Elder Faerie does not also receive the Silver Blessing. An odd note for later.Ā
This next line we are going to treat as what it is: a quote from a potentially unreliable primary source. āBut why?ā you may ask. āMercurial Knight does say that.ā Yep! He does! Thatās the reason weāre treating it like this.Ā
Quick sidebar: Primary sources are fantastic places to get information about an event, process, or anything else you are trying to research. They tend to be stuff like testimonies, witness accounts, and other sources that were there at the events. Thereās still an issue with this: primary sources can lie or be incorrect. If Jack says he jumped the candlestick when he actually burned himself, then he is a primary source that has false information. That doesnāt change the fact that heās a primary source. It just means that you need to check the source against other sources of information, like an art book (sometimes) or a text in-world.Ā
Why is this important? Because the line in the excerpt directly states and acknowledges a contradiction: Mercurial Knight says eventually all Silver Knights grow to ālook one and the sameā but this is a direct violation of Mercurial Knight and Silverbell having both unique names and unique abilities. Either Mercurial Knight meant, āwe all look like silver knights because the tree makes us silver and so we are one order,ā or something is very specifically different about Mercurial Knight and Silverbell. Likely the latter, considering that Mercurial is able to, and I stress this again, melt into liquid mercury, which Silverbell is definitely not able to do.Ā
Also this line implies that the Silver Blessingās transmutation of flavour into metal might be a slow, gradual process over time? That⦠That doesnāt make us feel better, Devsisters. Thatās actually worse.Ā
The final line states that the Silver Knights have likely disbanded after the Silver Tree stops needing defending. This is actually evident in one of the 5th Anniversary gallery painting cutscenes for the Silver Kingdom where Mercurial Knight states that heāll likely wander the land trying to defend people. We do not know where we would get the full quote for this right now so if anyone knows where we could verify this, weād really appreciate it as we tried to go and find it in our game and couldnāt remember where the completed paintings were stored. But direct parallels to the Salt of Solidarity aside, that implies one thing: this Silver Blessing is not reversible once the process finishes. You are a Silver Knight permanently, no matter what. Were the Knights aware of this before they signed on? If so, why does this culture just normalise getting your identity removed? If not, that seems like something that should be in big red ink at the bottom of the contract, yeah?Ā
That one passage is doing so much work. Just the one paragraph reveals systematic reconstruction of a cookieās entire biology and social identity to guard this one tree. The psychological horror of that statement alone is wild. Isnāt this supposed to be a kidsā game?!Ā
(Funny story: we ran this by some friends to make sure we werenāt crazy. They stared at us in horror before one of them pulled up a photo of Starlight Glimmerās village in MLP:FiM and how she removed all of their cutie marks for equality. We laughed so hard realising the similarities between the Silver Treeās knights and this village. Like⦠he isnāt wrong. I just donāt think the Silver Tree is so easily reversible.)Ā
āBut itās the Wiki! Wikis can be wrong! Surely this isnāt canon,ā we hear some of you protesting.Ā
Wellā¦Ā
Mercurial Knight Cookieās in-game description: ā... Blessed by Silver, he cast aside his former flavor, scent, and memories (and mastered the sacred art of Amalgamation). ⦠Perhaps the gravity of his mission has changed the very nature of his crispy Cookie dough.ā His soul jam description: āIt's seeped with silver till its deepest core, with the original color no where to be found.ā (Yes, it is āno where.ā We are choosing to blame the gameās proofreaders on that one.)Ā
Yeah⦠Yeah no, this is canon. Which means we have plenty to dig into in future parts:Ā
Why is the Silver Tree doing this?Ā
What is the source of this magic?Ā
How are Silent Salt and Elder Faerie involved? (And why their involvement alone is not enough for this to occur.)Ā
What happened to Mercurial Knight?Ā
What does this mean for Silverbell?Ā
And if this was Witch magic⦠what does that mean for the Witches themselves?Ā
But this is a good place to stop for today. We need tea and Iām already falling asleep at my typewriter.Ā
We hope youāll stop by again as we dig deeper into this beautifully fractured mess of canon and start rebuilding from the bottom up. Toodles!
