I dont want to bring drama to this community, but Im uncomfortable with how we dont have any confirmed queer characters in AVA
And the little confirmed women we have fall into the category of "dead and trauma for another character" (though, Im happy that Mitsi is back and it seems that she will play a huge role in the next episode)
Im also happy that we get representation for all sorts of gender presentation (like Purple being "queen Purple", and I dont think we have a confirmed gender for them, just a deduction that he is a man, like the color gang(?)). You basically make up their genders. I like to think that Purple is a boy but he is very feminine, and I find that cool, genuinely. Finally a male character who is feminine and sensitive and is treated normally. Or maybe she is a girl and the color gang either didnt notice (funny) or didnt care (cool :D). Or theyre non binary, and thats even cooler. I wish we had confirmed genders so I could actually know.
I also like how the episodes with different cultures (the cooking one, focused on the color gang wanting the chef's recipe book) doesnt make fun of the cultures and they just... Cook and eat food from different places around the world. They even visit those places just to learn!
And Im also happy that the series is extremely peaceful even if the characters are beating the shit out of each other all of the time. TSC doesnt want to kill unless its to defend the innocent. TCO gets a redemption arc. We get to explore why villains are villains (Orange King and Hacker). But we also get an irredeemable character who is genuinely evil, which is good to show that some people just dont want to be good (TDL). We also see the characters take accountability (TCO. I mean. No One.)
We also see some good depictions of trauma (Hacker. Just. Hacker. Thats the biggest example.)
But I also need to complain that it lacks sex. There should be sex scenes. Especially between my precious Mitsi and Hacker- ok I will stop.
