Ok but can we talk about how much of a fucking Chad medieval English longbowmen were? As in around the Hundred Years' War?
They trained for SEVEN YEARS before being able to go into battle. SEVEN YEARS!!
You could tell a person was a longbow shooter because of the difference in muscle size on their arms - longbows are super heavy and really tight, and so hard to pull back.
They were so highly trained and deadly that they could be incredibly accurate for hundreds of metres
They were so trained that their arrows could pierce through METAL ARMOUR.
The French knew the only way to stop them was to cut the fingers they used to draw their bows with off, and they turned it into a way of saying 'fuck you' by flicking the fingers at them to show they hadn't been captured.
They won the English SO MANY BATTLES because they were so versatile compared to cavalry. Ultra muddy field? No problem. Massive river in between the armies? Still piercing that armour. On a boat? Easy peasy.
