I had an amazing time at Creating Change 2024 with friends both new and old. Here are some more pictures!
A lovely dinner with Jaylen and Viet, whom I met when they were grad students at Texas Tech in Lubbock. So glad to see them now in the next stage (and place) of their lives, where they are thriving and making a difference.
Some precious time with some folks I greatly admire: the Mandy Carter, who is one of the founders of Southerners on New Ground and who has been committed to social justice since she was a teenager, Lisa Diamond, a brilliant academic and researcher who wrote Sexual Fluidity, and Scout, who runs the LGBT Cancer Network.
Some of the folks who attended the Bi+ Institute at Creating Change 2024. What an amazing array of engaged, caring, smart people.
With Russell Roybal, formerly deputy executive director at the National LGBTQ Task Force and now Commissioner of the State of California's Civil Right's Department.
For me, no Creating Change Conference would be complete without a big hug and a chance to catch up with Glenn Magpantay, whom I first met about a million years ago when he was a student leader. Glenn has done so much organizing, He is a thought-leader at the intersection of race, immigration, and queerness.
Lovely lunch on Tuesday with my friend Kamille. I'm happy to be home.
