Erised Rec- The Claiming of Grimmauld Place
HELLO AGAIN!!! I have been very busy consuming many of the wonderful fics in this year’s H/D Erised but have been (oops!!) a bit lax in reccing them. BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD I HAVE TO, so please expect several over the next few days as I catch up with myself :)
First I’m going to spotlight THIS AMAZING FIC RIGHT HERE:
The Claiming of Grimmauld Place by Anonymous (74K)
Summary: When Grimmauld Place begins fighting against Harry’s ownership of it, he decides he needs help to train the historic home — but little does he expect that it’ll be Malfoy who’s most suitable for the challenge. However, as Malfoy and Harry get closer, Harry comes to understand that expectations aren’t always the best path by which to guide his heart — and in the process learns just what is needed to make a house a home.
Thoughts: This fic has so many amazing elements I can’t even list them all, but HERE ARE JUST SOME: sentient and v naughty Grimmauld Place, housemates, not one but TWO of the most amazing wonderful creative pets I have ever seen in any fic ever, great humor, Slytherins and Gryffindors bonding, dirty scrabble, FAB LESBIANS, crazy hot sexual tension, crazy hot release of said tension ;), FEELINGS, parties, and a super fulfilling happy ending! There’s also absolutely lovely characterization, and Draco’s backstory/way of acting in this fic really resonated with me. In amidst all the fun and humor, there are also loooots of touching moments that, if you’re anything at all like me, will have you happy crying to the sky and wailing “MY BOOOYS”.Â
I don’t want to say too much, but trust me when I say you will enjoy this one thoroughly! Every bit of it is incredible, aaaand my friend who I sent it to earlier just texted me saying it was so good she had to read it in the bathroom at work. When she stops caring whether people assume she has bowel problems, that’s how you really know a fic is amazing ;)
