Hmm as a person who enjoys the jaykyle ship, reading fic set during the multiverse trip is always a bit of a litmus test for who has actually read countdown via the presence or absence of bob. If you dont mention bob I'm gonna just assume you havent actually read countdown which does in fact lessen my enjoyment of the fic. Countdown is bad, sure, but idk man I dont know if I trust you really understand the true appeal of the jaykyle dynamic if all you've seen of it are the iconic "hes dreamy" and the bad boy appeal panels. I'm not like. Expecting you to go into the morticoccys thing or the entire dimension they kill off (twice) but man. They dont even. Man.

the countdown timeline is so fucking confusing holy shit. each issue should logically take place over a week, right? but then you get situations like #16-1 (might happen before but im only rereading those issues) where its so hyper condensed it cant possibly be right. genuinely wtf is happening

Anyway now that I've read countdown I am surprised the jaykyle ship is as big as it is, because Kyle shows up like 15 or so volumes into the run and they barely interact, immediately hate each other (well Kyle immediately hates jason, jason is only reflecting that energy tbh), and so little time is spent developing their relationship that fuckin trickster and piper have more chemistry together, or holly and harley.

And also countdown is so bad I'm surprised a ship even came from it

Then again I did spend time in the dbh fandom where one of the biggest ships involves two guys who never meet and one of them only shows up in the worst ending lmao
