Dark/corruption avatar that aesthetically uses their flies to slowly cover the street lamps that surround you, blotting out the light and casting you into a darkness filled with flies and creepy crawlers. Metaphysically they represent a corruption of safety, they leave you within the dark and the unknown and they let the light crumple around you, they corrupt your good and your light and blot out every good thing you once thought was permanent.
I didn't have much of a preferences out of the 15 fears but now that i have an ant problem that escalated to a 4am killing spree and sleeping in the couch.
I can confidently say I feel 0 sense of empathy or community toward them.
Fuck the corruption avatars yall are fucking insane and any positive feelings undoubtly stem from Stockholm syndrome

Gustave Curtis Avatar of the Corruption. Works has work as cook/dishwasher/ short order cook and pizza cook at a lot of small mom and pop places. Works cheap, usually gets paid under the table, and basically can turn any commercial kitchen into a filthy nightmare. He is NYC/New Jersey based. He’s middle aged, short, squat, hairy, with greasy black thinning hair all over. He’s constantly sweating too. Smells bad, like limburger cheese. Heavy Jersey accent. Has killed health inspectors and will kill again. Starts out as a dishwasher at places that are new with cheap owners or neighborhood places where the original owners retired and the new ones cut corners. I said starts a dishwasher but he never stays as one, the other cooks get ‘sick’ or quit and he moves up the chain, until he’s basically the only one in the kitchen. His nickname is ‘Living Kitchen Nighmare’ and he’s been around since the 80s as far as anyone knows. After the restaurant he works at closes for good, he’s gone in a puff of disgusting smoke.

Oh yeah I've settled on the name Nathaniel (Nate) Coates
Obviously being covered in barnacles isn't the easiest to hide, right? So Nate tries to keep them covered for as long as possible
He wears a turtleneck under his coat (thank goodness its cold at sea) as well as keeping his hair long. On ships where people mainly keep to themselves hes less bothered about this and will avoid the turtle neck where possible - it's itchy and tugs on his barnacles!!
If someone clocks onto the barnacles though there are obviously actions he has to take, can't have word spread about his 'condition'.
Barnacles are nasty creatures, they get in, fill and consume the crevices and holes of not only boats and rocks, but living tissue. They're incredibly parasitic. Naturally with the ability to create/ spread these barnacles quickly, you're going to use them to make sure whoever will let the word slip stop in their tracks. It's a horrible way to go honestly, incredibly scary.
Of course, sometimes Nate's a bit late to act on these folk who know a bit too much, didn't notice the uncomfortable and poorly hidden glances at him to try and work out just how much of him was infested by the crustaceans. In these cases where word has spread, he can absolutely TRY to fight the rumours but when people start to notice something's wrong, it can be difficult to get them to stop. There have been multiple occasions where he has just been straight up thrown overboard. He never bothers taking out an entire crew, there's a much more effective fear he can utilise by being thrown overboard. Coates only stays on the deck for comfort reasons, staying stuck to the side of a ship for months, sometimes years, is incredibly uncomfortable. The crew will most likely start noticing the barnacles now, forming in clusters in unnatural areas of the ship. Their fear of sinking, the leaks, whatever they had just sent to it's supposed death , of what caused this all to transpire - it feeds the corruption a very very hearty meal.
