"I just don't know…" Ruby said, turning to look at herself in the mirror.

"But it looks fantastic on you!" Ciel insisted.

"I agree," Penny said, coming up behind Ruby to look at her. "It suits you very well!"

Ruby was wearing a trans flag crop top. She'd never worn something that left her stomach exposed, but Pride seemed like the perfect occasion to do it. But still…she wasn't sure if she had the confidence…

Until her girlfriends gave her simultaneous kisses on the cheeks, which made her realize that with them there, she had nothing to be worried about.

Ciel pushed Ruby down into a chair and sighed. “For the last time, we have to do this now or we’ll be late!”

“My arm is fine, I don't need maintenance on it yet,” pouted Ruby. She looked away as Ciel moved her arm to the table and started taking apart the prosthetic. “Its been functioning just fine. Besides, Penny and I can handle fixing it if it breaks.”

“And the last time I let the two of you fix anything, you added a laser to the toaster.”

“But now it toasts faster.” Penny walked into the room and paused for a moment as she looked at Ruby’s, now taken apart prosthetic. “Is it broken?”

“I’m doing another look over it before it breaks.” Ciel sat down and started tinkering with Ruby’s prosthetic, slapping Ruby’s hand away each time she reached for a tool. “We don't need a repeat of what happened the last time it broke while you were out.”

Ruby sighed. “It was one time. Besides, I ended up okay.”

“That’s not the point.” Ciel tightened up a screw, stopping when she heard Ruby wince. “Do you realize how much I worry about you and Penny when you go off on your missions? I know that Salem has been dealt with but… we still don't know exactly what Penny is right now and you… you’re reckless.”

Penny pinched her arm, wincing as she felt the pain run through it. “I am like you. Squishy guts instead of nuts and bolts.”

“That’s… not my point.”

Ruby rolled her eyes. “And I’ve been fine, Ciel. I’m only reckless when I know I’m not in any real danger. With Salem gone and Tyrian not around, it’s my job to help clear out the grimm that I can. The only real danger I’m in is-”

“Getting gored. Or mauled. Or impaled, slashed open, crushed…” Ciel dropped her screwdriver, shaking slightly. “I cant lose you like I lost my friends when Atlas was attacked.”

“And you wont.” Ruby hit a small latch on her prosthetic, allowing it to pop off so she could move to hug Ciel. “You’ll never lose me like that.”

Penny smiled a bit as she watched the two. She felt her heart thump a bit as she walked a little closer. “You could always join us on our next mission.”

“I… couldn't.” Ciel sighed and pulled away from Ruby, working on the prosthetic again. “After what happened at Atlas, I realized I’m not strong enough to be a huntress. I need to help people in my own way by ensuring nothing like that can happen again.”

Penny nodded and gave Ciel a small kiss on her cheek. “Then Ruby and I will make sure to take all the necessary precautions to come back safe and sound.” Ruby sighed as the faint chime of her scroll went off. She pulled it out and looked through the notification from Glynda Goodwitch. “Well, looks like we need to get out there now. Goodwitch sent reports of grimm getting closer to outlying villages.”

Ciel nodded and finished up with Ruby’s prosthetic. “And you both will be sure to be safe?”

Penny, sitting up straight: Well...this is...interesting.

Ruby, blushing: Oh Penny, you know you don’t have to.

Penny: Would that not be unfair?

Penny: Nervous? *rubs her elbow* A little. Embarrassed...? A little.

Nora: Didn’t you say that you...didn’t have...any parts?

Penny, nodding: I am an android.

Nora: So why would you be embarrassed?

Penny: Well you see, I am programmed with a basic artificial social function, which produces baseline emotions. Everything I have ever experienced in my life has caused alterations to that baseline, much like how major events can affect an organic individual’s emotions. Over the course of playing this game with you all, through my ability to empathize, I know performing a dare of this nature is embarrassing to the subject in question. That embarrassmet is associated with the exposure of private or sensitive parts of the body. Therefore, because of my empathy, and my acquired emotional data from playing this game, I would associate being naked before you all as being embarrassing.

Ruby, smiling pleasantly at her: I could listen to you talk about techno stuff all day.

RWBY Ship Headcannons #20: Copper Stopwatch

Zwei is their personal son. We already know how much Ruby adores him, but Penny can’t keep from petting him or playing with his furry little cheeks for ten seconds a time. Ciel acts chill around him most of the time, but she engages in protocol baby-speak whenever she thinks it’s just him and her.

Penny picks up on Tai’s ... uncanny sense of humour the second Ruby introduces her and Ciel to him. Let’s just say her girlfriends get an earful or awful dad jokes that they can’t help but laugh at because it’s Penny.

Ruby calls Penny ‘Lucky’ or ‘Polly’. She also calls Ciel ‘Tick Tock’ and ‘Cara Mia’.

Their favourite movie is The Addams Family from 1991. Penny adores the weird and macabre humour oddly enough, Ruby gets trapped in the plot, and Ciel is just a big Wednesday fan. She can relate to her.
