I know these two are gonna get married so how did Jim propose to Sophie when that time comes?
I put everything on hold for this right here šš½šš½Iāve actually talked to a couple of mutuals about this before and itās just so nice to think about so Iām so glad you asked. Just a fair warning, this is gonna get pretty sappy, so prepare yourselves.
Theyāve been dating for about 7 years when Jim decides he wants to marry Sophia. Overall their relationship is one of if not the healthiest in their friend group so thatās good :3
Jim has actually thought about it before, but only now is he really going through with it.
And of course theyāve both eluded to the idea in conversation a couple times before, but the topic would often leave just as soon as it came
Heās super anxious, obviously. Poor lad just wants to do this right. Not just the proposal, but their marriage overall if they are to say yes.
No matter what happens, thereās no way heās ever going to take this love for granted.
Back before the treasure planet voyage, Jim never thought heād ever have a chance at a future with her, but here he is, and he never forgets how lucky he is. Who needs treasure when youāve got the sweetest person in the world for a best friend & lover?
If heās charting his own course, then he wants this to be forever. Jim knows what he wants, and heās ready, all he needs is an answer from her.
he goes to Theodosia and makes sure sheās cool with him marrying her daughter
Jim even visited Connorās memorial, even though he knew he wouldnāt get an actual response and was like āI really love your kid and I wanna marry them, I hope thatās okay.ā
Jim went to confide in his mom, and she was actually kind of nervous about it.
Not on purpose, of course, itās just the trauma of Leland leaving her making her anxious, even though she knows theyāll be okay.
So Sarah has a long and late and personal talking to with Jim. "I hope I raised you well enough for you to already know this.. But you need to be SURE your ready for this. Understand? This is everything.."
He understands, and promises that he wonāt make his fatherās mistakes (big tight 3 minute long hug :3)
When he first told Silver he was planning on popping the question, Silverās first response was āWell itās ābout time!ā
When Jim expresses that heās nervous, even though Silver honestly doubts sheāll say no, he understand how important this is to him. āJust be yerself. Don't be afraid about showing her yer nervous. That just shows how much she means to you."
In the end, he tells him to simply hope for a yes, and prepare himself for a no.
And then comes the fateful day. itās not really planned, he just goes with his gut.
They go somewhere quiet where they can watch the afterglow.
Jim eases into the conversation, telling her that heās wanted to ask her something for a while.
Heās also sure it clarify that itās perfectly okay if their answer to said question is no. The last thing he wants is for them to feel pressured into saying yes.
Sophieās a little anxious, but listens intently as Jim proceeds to basically pour his heart out, bringing them both close to tears.
They notice that his hands are getting shaky, so they gently squeeze them for comfort.
once he comes to the end of his little speech, Jim takes a deep breath and gets down on one knee.
upon realizing exactly whatās happening, Sophie has to stifle a whimper and keep their legs from giving out.
āSophia Moana Luca Iris, will you marry me?ā
it takes a moment for Sophie to respond, sheās trying not to cry (and kinda sorta utterly failing)
āOf course.ā
soft tackle hug, happy crying, a lotta kisses
yāknow all those weird wedding traditions? yeah, toss them out the window.
greenery >>> floral arrangements
groomsmen & bridesmaids are out ā besties and wedding party are in ā
J: who the hell invented the garter toss? S: no clue, scratch it out.
A thousand years could disappear and they would still love each other just as much as they do now. All they really want is to stay together, so thatās what theyāre gonna do.

Iām on a roll this week, so hereās some art of my dad oc, Connor Iris
PLEASE DO NOT REPOST

OK I GOT ANOTHER ONE
Did Connor love being a dad? (I mean of course) What were his favourite things about being a dad? Especially to his lil Sophie?
OHMIGOSH SOFT DAD HOURS THIS HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRAFTS FOR SO LONG IM SORRY ANYWAY HERE YOU GO
(also happy birthday to me š„³)
Ever since he was about 17, Connor would occasionally entertain the idea of having children of his own. And upon discovering that his 5 year old daydream would become a reality, it took no time at all for him to realize that this was his chance to make the difference he wished for as a boy.
Connor didnāt grow up in the most loving home. It wasnāt too terrible, but things definitely could have been better. So when he left, he swore to himself that if he ever became a father himself, he would show them the kind of love and support that he was denied when he was a child. And so he did.
Each and every day since she was born, Connor found so much wonder in watching Sophie grow, from her first word, to her first friend. True, he couldnāt be around all the time, but when he was, he made the most of it all, taking his time to learn as much about his daughter as he could.
When Sophie would tell him about something cool she learned, or a new book she liked, or showed him a drawing she made, or even just express herself, he would listen intently with the most loving smile on his face, wanting to know whatever was going on in that brilliant little mind of hers.
Connor congratulated her success and encouraged her when she fell short of the expectations she set for herself. He taught her to take her failures and mistakes as lessons and not faults.
This precious little creature that he and his beautiful wife had brought into the world; he had every intention of loving and protecting her for as long as he lived, and he did.
He was just such a good dad, to both Sophie and Jim whenever he could be there.
I hope yāall liked this š„ŗš
Is Sophie comfortable talking about her father?
all aboard the PAIN TRAIN. This is you final boarding call! Destination: Heartbreak Hollow. Population: yāall
That is extremely dependent on who sheās talking to. Itās actually a very sensitive topic of discussion for her. Obviously, she doesnāt talk about it with just anyone, especially her classmates. Youāve gotta be pretty damn close to her for the topic to go anywhere beyond the mere implication of Connorās passing.
itās easiest for her to talk about it with Jim and her mom, considering how hard it is for her to talk about it in the first place.
Iām Sarahās case, theyāll talk about it every so often, and she handles it very delicately since she knows just as well as any of them how traumatic Connorās death was for her.
Delbert is similar, and heāll handle it as delicately as he can should the topic ever come up. He will occasionally stumble over his words, but it does help Sophie feel a little bit better.
She actually (briefly) talked about it with Amelia in chapter 12 after the supernova, and she was surprisingly comfortable about it. I suppose it was because Amelia kind of reminded her of her mom. Anyways, Sophie actually still feels decently okay with talking to amelia about her dad, even after the voyage, and the captain keeps in mind to handle the topic with care.
Silver honestly doesnāt really like talking about it very much himself, but will lend Sophie an ear if she needs it, no matter how much it hurts because he knows it hurt her just as much, if not even more. Heāll never deny her a shoulder to cry on if it gets too deep.
To this day, Sophie still misses her dad as badly as ever, and I donāt believe sheāll ever stop.
