YESSSS!!! Iām going to elaborate a bit more than I did last time.
Itās mari!Pearson and akilah!Tressler. and since I Can Iāll explore the little parallels that im most excited write.
So far, the part Iām most excited about finishing is ānew blood has to earn their seatā, which is the opening. I think itās so telling of Mariās character specifically, and this was a Mari blog before a tlw one so in a way, I get to explore both of them in this.
For so much of Mariās arc in the show, she wants to fit in and have a Place, which falls a bit into Pearson being a musketeer but Not Really.
I havenāt quite decided if Iād like to genderbend them yet though Iām leaning towards no right now, just because (To Me) there are minuscule changes in their characters that would change the ending. (I think Jazmine Pearson is a slightly better listener than James, and if she listens to the warning she gets then. No Pit)
Pearson trying to prove himself, and staying close to the created hierarchy out there, but Tressler being somewhere he feels free to act normal is a really enjoyable dynamic for me.
The fic starts on the plane and iām thinking of a 5+1 format starting on the plane and ending a little bit after the pit. Itās basically confirmed that teen Akilah is alive so the +1 aspect is fully about Tressler and the aftermath of Pearsonās death which is also going to be fun because, Iām not sure if Iāll keep Pearson as the cook, but I still want to give him a role similar to that, so that his absence is palpable everywhere.
My tentative plan is to have a chapter/segment for each season!! So the first fall, winter, spring, summer/fall mix because thereās so much Going On that they lose track a little bit and Pearsonās last winter. Since the end is sort of up to me I sort of want to do survivor!tressler!! Iām unsure if I want to do post-rescue or pre-rescue but I definitely want to explore Pearsonās absence from camp so this very well may end up more than 6 chapters.
