Speaking of Wu's knowledge of Overlord while Garmadon didn't know anything about it, there's a moment in the fight between Wu and Overlord in Crystallized where Wu is like, "Father told me stories about you, and the good always won in them."
So, FSM literally told only one of his sons about the archenemy of their family and eventually asked him not to tell his older brother about this. It's either bad writing, which may be the case since it's Crystallized or Garm can have a reason/point in all this "father loved you much more than me" thing.
But then we remember that Mystake also didn't tell Garmadon about it, and that the FSM family is capable of that divination over the smoke, so it's possible that FSM could predict the Great Devourer biting Garmadon so he will find the Dark Island if he decides to destroy the society in a more radical way. Considering that FSM thought that there will be no inheritor of Green, thus the Overlord will just disappear, hiding information from Garmadon was not as bad as it's going to be.
Although the canon doesn't have that much of an excuse, so we're back in the bad writing vs. bad parenting dilemma.
Considering that FSM thought that there will be no Inheritor of Green, thus the Overlord will just disappear, hiding information from Garmadon was not as bad as itās going to be <- right on the money with that one
In any case, even if the FSM was a saint, he wasnāt completely a perfect parent either (as we can tell from both his sons accounts), and for as awesome Mystake is I do want to ensure sheās got some flaws too. Her hands aināt clean in this as much as she tries to scrub them down to be lol
As for the whole ādonāt tell Garmadonā thing, thatāll be addressed more once Koko properly enters the plot (along with why Olivia was so distressed over Garmadon now trying to find the Dark Island)
(But the Overlord knowledge is also something that the FSM didnāt even want to tell Wu until he was forced to right before he ādiedā, though we donāt get that specific tidbit until Season 5 ;V)
