why do some people say essek having earrings is popular fanon and not technically canon when all of his official art has him in earrings? like i get "it was the artist's interpretation" but in official art there was absolutely a conversation between the artist and someone in critical role (if not mercer himself being involved with any one of those decisions) and it was consistently passed for him to have earrings. this is such a small thing but how do you accept anything said in a fireside chat as canon even though it is not specifically brought up at the table in the campaign but not the official art since it is never mentioned at the table in campaign? they gave him earrings in the animated series. who even cares why does it matter if it was fanonized into canon or not they're earrings??
