I wish that some people didn't treat selfship tumblr like a popularity contest. Everyone should just have fun and be happy! Focusing on followers and who's the more popular selfshipper of which f/o is very unhealthy imo.

i hate untagged ship art, but I also hate seeing solo art of my f/o that has absolutely nothing shippy going on but it's tagged with a ship for some reason??? has anyone else ever experienced this?? idk if it's just this fandom specifically but it's rlly annoying

venting about the community a little bit. I feel like people don’t actually want to be in a community, I think everyone just wants mindless fans who tell them that their ships are sooo totally canon. It’s frustrating!! I have a lot of mutuals but my posts rarely get interacted with, but I interact with my mutuals all the time!! I frequently reblog their art/comms/writing but then I don’t really get much in response. It makes me want to not interact with people because why should I be a big fan of other people’s ships when they don’t like mine?? And I hate thinking like that, and i don’t let it affect my behavior, I still support my mutuals and random shippers I stumble upon. But it just. sucks to support people’s art but get nothing in return.
It’s the way nothing feels reciprocal I guess. I don’t expect every mutual to reblog every post I make, I don’t expect everyone to be online 100% of the time. I’m not begging for interactions, I truly don’t care because I make art for myself. I just think a little something would be nice?? Why am I uplifting other people when nobody is uplifting me? And it’s not just me, I’m talking about my experiences but I see so many other shippers who support other people’s ships but get nothing in return!! I try to interact with as many people as I can bc I love selfshipping but sometimes it feels like what’s the point of this community if nobody is actually supporting each other? I’ve noticed there’s some really big shippers in the space who almost never reblog other people’s works too and it’s like. well okay. why are you here if you don’t want to interact with other people’s ships?? Sometimes this place feels really empty and hollow. I feel like it’s all a popularity contest and not a community and it makes me sad :( I want to TALK to and SUPPORT people but I can’t seem to find many people that want to do that same (I treasure every mutual I have that actually does want to interact tho <3 I just wish there were MORE)

fun fact! The x reader tag is NOT ur x oc tag
hope this helps! 🤩

I jst ran into two doubles in the (f/o) x reader tag and neither of them was tagged with (f/o) x oc?????? I’m non-sharing w this f/o too but somehow I’m more annoyed abt the tagging than upset abt the sight of doubles lmao

I feel like black selfshippers do not get the same treatment like their white counterparts and as selfshipper it just makes me sad. Like seeing white selfshippers be like "no one is obligated to interact with you" is interesting because alot of those white selfshippers get more interaction / face no racial problems in this community because people prefer white or lighter skinned selfshippers. It feels very disheartening but whatever we keep shipping! 💪🏿

Being a trans man selfshipper while having genuine opinions on male pregnancy is. Interesting sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I think mpreg jokes are funny to some degree, I don't always hate them. But I can't help feeling like if I make fankid lore involving me carrying the kid, it's gonna get misinterpreted as a joke or a fetish instead of a very real, personal choice trans men make all the time when deciding to be parents
I feel like even me defending it in general is gonna be seen as "being too sensitive" or whatever. I'm not a total stick-in-the-mud about it, but I wish people would put the laughs aside sometimes and realize that, yes, some trans people who have kids will have unconventional methods of getting them. I'm not sure if I'll ever want bottom surgery, and a hysterectomy poses too many health risks for me to consider anytime soon. And I love the idea of fankids. I shouldn't have to worry about being made fun of for a very real aspect of my— and many other trans men's— life
Idk maybe bringing this up at all is just opening up the door to ridicule again, but I hope it'll inspire someone to look at the concept with more care and nuance than just "haha men being pregnant, so stupid and funny!"

People love to call my f/o stupid until they need him to be a cold hearted mastermind for their theories.
