Selfshipping being rebranded into yumeshipping and becoming a trend should never have happened. Now it's all a popularity contest. Who has the cutest SI or OC, who has more merch and cutesy commissions. I miss it when it was just selfshipping and we were all more or less weirdos doing cringey things 🥲

♡ You're allowed to imagine/make content of your F/O(s) helping you keep up with your mobility aids

♡ You're allowed to imagine/make content of your F/O(s) tracking when you next need to take your meds

♡ You're allowed to imagine/make content of your F/O(s) taking care of you on your lowest days, when flare-ups feel like they'll never end or you can't get out of bed

You're not "hard to love", "a bother", or anything like that. They love you, romantically or otherwise. They want to see you comfortable and happy. You don't have to be miserable all the time. You can make cute scenarios that include your disability, add it into your sona's lore, and think of ways they'd lift your spirits or stand up for you. They love you, not in spite of your disability, but because it's part of you

This especially applies to selfshippers with conditions society likes to ignore. NPD, ASDP, schizophrenia-spec disorders— ones so bad you need constant bedrest, aids, or caretaking. They'll never judge you for any of it. They'll make accommodations for you anytime. They want you to feel loved

I'm nine months clean now. Made the milestone yesterday I think? It's not easy, sometimes I still miss it— but it's better for me, the environment, and the people around me. I understand it's never as easy as it sounds to recover, but whether you're three years or five minutes clean, I'm proud of you. You're doing great. Be patient with yourself

F/O-based general comfort:

<3 There's never such thing as a "stupid" or "unimportant" reason for you to be afraid. Admittedly, your F/O might not always understand what's happening— but they want to help, so they let you take the lead on informing them

<3 Whether your F/O does a bunch of research into what might assist you, they sit patiently beside you as you talk it out, or even if they don't quite know what to do and their comforting comes out stiff/awkward.. they want you to know that you don't have to go through bad episodes alone, and it's never a bother to them

<3 There's never a bad time to ask for reassurance. Even if you're spiraling over what some people would call "small" or "weird". Your F/O understands, because it matters to you, so it matters to them, too. Even if all you need is for them to sit nearby and remind you that they love you. They don't mind, even if they're not the best at showing it. You're their top priority

For those who have paranoia about selfshipping itself:

<3 However you choose to present your selfship, you're doing great! There is no "right" or "wrong" way to selfship. Your relationship should be tailored to whatever makes you comfortable! Love canon? Keep it. Hate it? Toss it out. The fandom and the canon are their own things– your selfship is for you, and you only. You're never "too much" or "too little" with it

<3 Social media can be extremely demanding. Algorithms are unfair, posting times are really hard to track, and consistently posting every day isn't possible for many of us. It's okay to not have a blog dedicated to your selfship. It's okay if you have one or two pieces of merch, or none, if you can only selfship in private, or with close friends. Your ship is still worthy of love, you are doing enough
