Selfshipping being rebranded into yumeshipping and becoming a trend should never have happened. Now it's all a popularity contest. Who has the cutest SI or OC, who has more merch and cutesy commissions. I miss it when it was just selfshipping and we were all more or less weirdos doing cringey things 🥲

Shoutout to the self shippers whose f/os have helped them through their hardest times and made them feel like life is worth it.

Shoutout to the self shippers who need self shipping to get through rough days because it’s their way of coping.

Shoutout to the self shippers who turn to their f/os for comfort when they’re upset and need someone to hold onto.

Shoutout to the self shippers who feel stuck in depression but find their f/os to be their main source of happiness.

Shoutout to the self shippers who care so much about their self ships that it feels overwhelming sometimes.

Shoutout to the self shippers who can’t imagine their life without self shipping because it’s such an important part of who they are.

Just yesterday night, I won’t say exactly who but I saw someone use the F/O tag to promote their selfship, which would normally be fine, except that it was an RPF selfship with someone who had…extremely morally objectionable views, especially with Tumblr folk. IYKYK. I still can’t tell if it’s ragebait or not, but either way it just made me (and probably others) extremely uncomfortable, even if it is kinda funny.

So, I’d like to remind everyone that RPF/parasocial selfshippers are not welcome on this blog. There is a very clear difference with fictional characters and real people. Fictional characters aren’t real. So they’re pretty much your personal playground to do anything you want with them within reason, and there’s almost no risk. But real people? These are real people with real emotions, and you’re selfshipping with them without their knowledge or consent? It’s pretty much stalking at that point. Not to mention it has real-world consequences, even not just selfshipping. Just…I can’t explain it, but RPF is just…icky. And I want nothing to do with it or with anyone doing it.

I love this community and I love engaging with it, but…some people in it genuinely need help. I don’t care if it’s ragebait at this point.

It also mainly upsets me bc like,, this is my only HEALTHY coping mechanisn and thing thats made me happiest but now its js being ruined🫩 AUGHH THIS IS SO STUPID BUT I FEEL HORRIBLE

I hate those "F/O imagine" posts where your F/O basically hates you

As someone who's been dealing with doubts that my F/O(s) actually love me ever since I started selfshipping, it just hurts to see that.

I know some people enjoy it, but it just makes me so uncomfortable when one pops up on my dash

Even the more tame ones gross me out
