Edit: I have not seen Nosferatu, and the comments assuming that's what this post is about are getting fucking obnoxious.
As are many of the additions very rudely pointing out the fact that the actual range is *slightly* bigger and includes parts of Europe, so they could potentially be in the setting of the film I haven't seen and wasn't talking about.
And talking as if I'm somehow to blame for someone else's map being incomplete on a meme I made in a few minutes that ended up getting tons more notes than usual. You can correct people while being polite about it.
This post is about Poirot. Quite a few episodes set in various locations, but especially Death on the Nile because that's the one I've watched most recently, and no matter whose map you look at there are no loons in Egypt.
Edit #2: There, I updated the map, are you assholes happy now? Still no loons in Egypt, nor anywhere near the city of Brussels. I will concede that there are some in the UK that I did not know about, but you probably wouldn't hear them in a city, and in any case the point still stands that TONS of productions use loon sounds no matter where they're set.
Look at the map in this Vox video that someone linked in the comments of this post. They're all over the place!
Settings on every continent except Antarctica, and that's just the instances this one person found!
Perhaps it would be more accurate for me to say this post was inspired by Poirot but is about lots and lots of different movies and shows, because if I'd only ever heard one stray loon sound in one film then I wouldn't have made it.
Also, I shouldn't think it needs to be said, but I am not doing a serious media criticism here - just poking a bit of fun.
