I read your pairing (Dizzy X Sol) post and it got interesting (not in the pairing). I was wondering if you could elaborate their relationship together and the alternative timeline where Sol is the head of the order while Dizzy is the captain of the Jellyfish.
Sol's first encounter with Dizzy is a rough one, for starters, here's their opening battle intros fully translated:
Sol: Maji de kushi ka nee na... [I better not fool around...]
Dizzy: ...Gia ni wa...iki ru kachi ga arimasen ka?[...For Gears...is it wrong to have a reason to live?]
Further elaborating on it, Sol's initial mission was to destroy all Gears for a very specific reason. Deterrment.
But that changed when he realised not all Gears wish to kill, but simply survive.
Dizzy: "Did you...come to kill me?"
Sol: "I came to find out. Hey...you're a Gear?"
Dizzy: "Don't Gears have a right to live?"
Sol: "Gears are weapons. Even their hearts."
Dizzy: "I may be a weapon...but I don't want to hurt anybody!"
Dizzy: "Aren't you...going to finish me off?"
Sol: "I made a mistake. There are no Gears that want to die."
Dizzy: "Then...might as well be a Gear. This power to kill..."
Sol: "Don't cry. It's annoying."
Dizzy: "Will we meet again?"
This is further illustrated in the GGXX Drama CD Side Black in an alternate timeline.
Dizzy: "You traitor...why do you help mankind?!"
Sol: "That's my line. Unlike Justice...Your heart should be FREE. So why!? Why do you kill!"
Dizzy: "Don't talk about mother so easily! You...I'll kill you!"
Sol: "A kid's crying, huh."
Dizzy: "What did you say!?"
May: "There! Open the cannons! Full assault!"
May: "For Johnny's revenge...!"
Dizzy: "Foolish ones...men are parasites that consume this planet!" *destroys May's ship*
Sol: "This little brat...destroying people just because she's irritated...can't save you now. Now you die. DRAGON INSTALL!!"
Dizzy: "You're jealous of mother! Be crushed!"
...You see, because Dizzy was born in a world of peace, instead of War, she knew nothing of what humans were. She knew nothing of hatred or past grudges or sins. She didn't even know her true purpose as a Gear. She only knew her appearance and power was hated and feared by others, thus she isolated herself.
It's easy to label Gears as Weapons...much less Weapons of Mass Destruction. But Dizzy was much more.
As for Sol...you could say he realised that Justice was bound by her fate twisting against her...she had no choice in her life. Justice was sacrificed so that mankind could survive.
By contrast, Dizzy was born in the wild...she was FREE. Free to choose, free to live, free to love. Just like Sol's ideology.
She asks the question "is it wrong to have a reason to live"....
Ky Kiske makes a point of answering that question for her much later. "To live is to be a burden on others."
But even if she is a burden, she can impact others' lives in a positive way...so it isn't wrong to live and seek answers and survive.
And so, Sol left her as such, coming back only to protect her from the chaos surrounding her:
Dizzy: "Why do you do such cruel things?"
I-No: "Ah, that's it! That face! Ahhh...I get goose bumps just looking at it. If you'll only keep showing it to me, I'll tease and bully you as much as your heart desires."
Dizzy: "Excuse me, I need to be going now..."
I-No: "It's so cute how you think you can just run away from me!"
Dizzy: "Huff...huff...Please! Back down!"
I-No: "You little...Don't tell me what to do! I'll strip your feathers to the bone!"
Dizzy: "I can't...hold back my powers any longer!"
Dizzy: "My power...It won't stop! Someone, please...Help me!"
Dizzy(Necro): "Kissshhhaaaaaah!"
Sol: "You're as energetic as ever. I like that. It's okay to be scared...Just don't ever give up."
Sol: "Simmered down yet?...Hopefully this'll be enough to take care of things..."
Dizzy: "...Hmmm? What happened to me? I feel so...What is this? I used all my powers, and yet...I feel so...warm..."
April: "Ah-hah! There you are. I thought you might be around here!"
April: "Hmm? What's wrong, Dizzy?"
Dizzy: "I...I don't know. I can't stop crying."
April: "Did something sad happen?"
Dizzy: "No, I had a dream. A very...nostalgic dream."
April: "It must have been a dream about your mother. Or, I know...Maybe it was about your father, huh?"
Dizzy: "Do you think...Gears like us really have any parents?"
April: "Ah...well...Sure. Don't worry. I mean, you've got to! Yeah...So how about we go searching for them together sometime?"
Dizzy: "Thank you. I feel better already. I really hope...I can meet them someday."
April: "Oh, here they are. Hey, you guys! Over here! Are you ready to go?"
So you could say in a sense that Sol protects her out of consideration for what he did to Justice. Maybe Sol knows the truth...maybe not...regardless, he keeps quiet about the matter.
If in some ways Sol is her father...well...it certainly is a unique relationship.
The fact Sol would eventually take care of Sin says volumes about how much he cares for those innocent born as a result of the Gear Project.
As for the alternate ending...it takes place one hundred years in the future...I'm not sure if it's canonical or not. (So you could say the year is 2281).
(And then 100 years passed...)
Dizzy: "Captain Johnny, the reason I am here now is thanks to you. You were always cheerful and playful...And even so you were always fighting to protect something important. Now I have something to protect as well. Please, watch over us today."
Subordinate: "Rising to 6000 meters."
Dizzy: "Jellyfish Pirates! After me!" *takes off flying ahead*
Subordinate: "All forces in formation!"
Dizzy: "What about the other groups?"
Subordinate: "Third Holy Order, now deploying. Zepp Airborne Divisions #1-5 have arrived."
Dizzy: "Okay! (Will that person not be coming?)"
Subordinate: "Unidentified high energy source coming from the port! Communication coming in:
"Idiot. Thinking of starting the battle without everybody here?" -Frederick
Dizzy: "The high energy source is an ally. Make way!"
Subordinate: "Understood! Giving recognition code."
Dizzy: "Recognition code...'Sun'. (Captain Johnny, please watch us.)All forces, attack! Our target is the enemy force's axis!"
Does this mean that 100 years from now there will be a 3rd Sacred Order of Holy Knights (with Frederick as its leader)? Or a Zepp Airship Fleet? Or that Dizzy will be Captain of the Jellyfish?
Even if an alternate timeline put Dizzy at odds with the Jellyfish Pirates...to be Captain no less is amazing.
After 100 years it's hard to say...Gears certainly live a long time...Dizzy is probably no exception.
What they were fighting against, I can only imagine.
Here's hoping peace for Gears and Humans comes sooner than that though.
