SEMA 2020: Cometic Continues To Expand Coverage In Every Direction

While it’s not surprising that the New items section of the SEMA 360 display is a down from the traditional collection of the latest and greatest wares through across the industry, what is surprising would be to see Cometic Gaskets with 3 full pages of new products becoming announced at the show.

In addition to the quantity of part numbers, will be the variety across the board of apps and types of gaskets. “We generally develop the head gaskets first, yet sometimes the market will dictate that which products need to be made first, ” explains Micky Hale, technical product sales representative for Cometic. “We are already working towards getting some of the more recent model kits together for the Street Professional line, like say a COPO kit or a new Coyote package, and some of these parts need to be designed to meet those end goals. ”

To that end, there is certainly quite the array of gaskets over the new products list, from head mechanical seals to exhaust gaskets, to control device cover gaskets, turbo gaskets, plus timing cover gaskets, the Cometic lineup is expanding in every path. “It really is a full gamut of recent items, ” says Hale.

Cometic has not been focusing on any one type of seal or even one market segment this season, rather tackling the market demands because they come.

Along with such a variety of gasket models plus materials with a given gasket selection, it made us wonder the way they determine what application gets what choices. “On head gaskets, we would take a look at a few things, ” Hale points out. “If it’s a diesel program or an application that has the potential to become modified (i. e. Coyote), that is a great candidate for the MLX collection. If it’s more likely to be a program replacement type of application, our MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE line is still an upgrade, yet would be what we develop for that program. ”
