EPILOGUE
"Is this the end?" Chaeyoung asked. Her voice was weak.
"No, you and I will continue loving each other until the end of time. We will continue to meet each other in every life we exist... " Jisoo reaches out to hold Chaeyoung's hand.
"Our love story is never going to end, Chaeyoung, because you and I are soulmates."
"You and I are soulmates," Chaeyoung repeats weakly, feeling a bomb of happiness inside her.
"I love the sound of that..."
Jisoo nods slowly, dragging Chaeyoung's hand onto her lips, and flashed a quivering pout as she tries to hold back her tears silently.
The lump forming in her throat was large and painful, but Jisoo couldn't bring herself to cry. She has to be strong for both of them. For Chaeyoung.
"Jisoo..." Chaeyoung whispered and Jisoo didn't hesitate to lean closer.
"I love you."
Jisoo could feel the blood from her lips from biting too much, but Jisoo didn't care. Instead, she leaned closer and kissed her lover's hand dearly.
"I... I love you too, Chaeyoung." Jisoo says, feeling the tears streaming down her cheeks.
Chaeyoung smiled, gathering the energy she had left, and reached out to wipe the tears streaming down on Jisoo's face.
"Don't cry... I don't like to see you crying. "
"I'm not crying," Jisoo denies, wiping her own tears with her sleeves.
Chaeyoung didn't say anything further but smiled weakly at the sight of Jisoo trying to make her see that she was, in fact, not crying.
"See?" Jisoo says, trying to create a bright smile for Chaeyoung.
Chaeyoung smiles at the sight, before she yawns softly, and looks at Jisoo slowly. Jisoo knew something was wrong.
"I'm sleepy, sing me to sleep? I want to hear your voice."
Jisoo nodded, trying to firm her bright smile, so Chaeyoung wouldn't see the pain she had been enduring. Chaeyoung scoots over a little with a soft smile, her eyes never leaving Jisoo.
"Wheels on the bus go round n round, round n round, round n round,"
Chaeyoung burst out laughing as she softly hit Jisoo, "Seriously?"
"You told me to sing you a song. Wheels on the bus is a song," Jisoo says, giggling a little.
"A nursery rhyme song."
"You didn't say what type of song."
Chaeyoung rolls her eyes and giggles. Jisoo does the same. There was a comfortable silence between the two when the laughter started to falter.
Jisoo gently placed her lover's head near her chest, and Chaeyoung didn't argue. Instead, she closes her eyes as she enjoys the loving touch on her hair gently.
You, in my imagination Are so vivid, oh-oh As if you are right there But I reach out my hand And you suddenly disappear
As Jisoo sang those words softly in Chaeyoung's ear. She held Chaeyoung tightly in her embrace, afraid to let go because she was never ready to let go. Not yet. Not now. Never.
From all the memories stored in my heart I gather up the ones of you, link them together Gazing at them projected across the room I feel you with every burst of pain
As Jisoo was busy singing the lyrics softly into Chaeyoung's ear. Chaeyoung opens her eyes as she feels the pounding heart of her lover. It was pounding erratically, just like hers, and Chaeyoung wanted to thank the Gods for letting her encounter Jisoo in this life.
"I love you, Jisoo." She whispered enough for Jisoo to hear.
Jisoo held her tighter in response, continuing to sing, and when Chaeyoung closed her eyes again, she slept forever.
She slept forever in Jisoo's arms.
And Jisoo was crying.
