In December 1941, the front lines stabilized, and the war became a positional conflict in Metsäpirtti as well. Guard duty and patrolling continued relentlessly day and night in the cold, snowy forest, testing the men constantly. In some sectors, fierce clashes still took place. Joulukuussa 1941 rintamalinjat vakiintuivat, ja sota muuttui asemasodaksi myös Metsäpirtissä. Vartiointi ja partiointi jatkuivat tauotta päivin ja öin kylmässä, lumisessa metsässä, koetellen miehiä jatkuvasti. Joillakin osuuksilla käytiin yhä ankaria yhteenottoja.
