hey a story from my life today
The two special needs kids in my dance class didn't have an aid today. like, their aid was gone for some reason and they just sent some random lady down with them to class. so I kinda took the reins.
Scotty (who has pretty severe down syndrome) didn't do the dances, but he tried to really hard and he had a great time and listened to everything I said and didn't act up, like i've seen him do before. But melissa (Not sure what she has, but she has impaired motor skills and verbal skills. she uses a lot of hand gestures and vocal inflections.) did the WHOLE thriller dance and she was so happy and had tons of fun.
and when class was over, their substitute aid came over to me, and said, "I don't know if Merril (Their usual aid) tells you enough, but you do an amazing job with these kids. I mean, wow."
and that made me so so happy. I love those guys, not enough people treat them like people, and I'm glad I helped them have a good class. :)
