Are millennials an exception to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs? More and more millennials are showing signs of possessing the needs of self-actualizers at an early stage of their career and life. They want their work to be of value and to have meaning and purpose. They care as much about fairness and the plight of others as they do about themselves. As per The Deloitte Global Millennial Survey, "millennials’ opinions about business continue to diminish, in part due to views that businesses focus solely on their own agendas rather than considering the consequences for society. 50% said business has a positive impact on society, down from 61% in 2018." These emerging altruistic concerns are forcing companies to consider more carefully their ethics and values and the needs of all their stakeholders including the community and environment. It has become a key realm for coaches as they are being pulled into ‘coaching for purpose’ than just ‘coaching for performance’. Interestingly, that trend is increasingly noticeable across all levels and not just for millennials. Seems more and more people have decided that unlike their predecessors, they are not going to sell themselves short! #coachingforperformance #coachingforpurpose #coachingformeaning #millennials #maslowshierarchyofneeds https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ZI5hils7u/?igshid=5wbtlyvrltzs
