So, is Orion\Optimus a very sad regretful mech? No, not at all, what gives you that hint? *Ahem* Anyway, here some thoughts about Alpha Trion: Firstly, no, there will not be a magic book and a quiver that write the future. Alpha Trion itself can actually see multiple futures and it's hard for him get what's gonna happen: that's the reason why he decided to accept Sentinel's assignment to work at the Aiacon's Archives. He put himself in a place where he could be a watcher of history, firstly to be a passive chronlogist of Cybetronian race, then because he hoped to change the future that he saw. I'll approach the old mech dampening a little some of his action because... well he's quite a piece of shit in Exodus. In there, not only he says he wouldn't choose Orion as the Matrix bearer but he controls and actually use multiple times Orion, pushing him also to cannot refuse the title of Prime and the Matrix... actually causing the last fracture between him and Megatron (which of course was trying to manipulate him too but... things happened). Still I'm not going to make Alpha Trion a full positive characters, but more as somebody that he tried for ages do to not interfere in the story because in the past this causes only disaster and pain. But when Cybetron got into an age of crisis, with energon disappearing, Alpha Trion ignore his own suggestions and started a machine that will bring to the war and fall of Cybetron. And Orion got caught in the middle.
