Little Man is officially going to his great grandma's once a week, hopefully starting this week. It was my husband's idea, he says I need to take more breaks. She loved having him when I was at the school, and has commented that she misses him, so this is a win for everyone.
I just have to not let myself start feeling guilty. This is what it means to have a village, and I will be a better mom when I make time to take care of myself.
Before I forget again I made a cheesecake for a St Patrick's Day Party with my friends. It was beautiful before my husband cut it. It's supposed to be a pot if gold so I used brownies as the crust and added gold dye.
We're getting eggs again! Temperatures dropped really low, really quickly end of November/beginning of December so our chickens stopped laying for a few weeks from the stress. Now temperatures have stabilized in the 10s and below, so they're slowly starting back up with production.
It's a slow cooker kind of day. I promise there's a pork shoulder roast under all those carrots and onions! 😂 I'm trying to clean out the fridge and freezer. We have a lot of carrots left from the garden.

Avoided Thanksgiving planning by going on an adventure with Little Man. We wandered around our grove and property in general. In the grove I found this deer jaw hanging from a branch. I thought it was interesting that it wasn't on the ground. If anyone knows of any spiritual meanings behind finding something like this, from any tradition, I'd be interested in hearing about it!
70°F today!! Little Man got the cutest raincoat yesterday, so I put it on him for wind break (#PrairieLife lmao). It perfectly matches his rain/chore boots! 😍 In wind protected areas it feels like the beginnings of shorts weather.
I also got some Earthing in since it wasn't super muddy or frozen. I need to spend more time barefoot this year. It always makes me feel better.
how tradfems get any money from their husbands on skincare or clothes for themselves? every single man i meet was always extremely greedy that when my tradfem mother asked for money for skincare she needed to to get on her knees and beg, men don't give money that easily to women
I think the answer here is to find a man who sees you as an equal partner. Having to beg for necessities or even a little fun spending money (assuming it's financially feasible) is not okay and is actually financial abuse. Money is shared. It does not belong only to the spouse who makes it. My husband and I have a joint bank account for both of us to use. When we set up our budget, we planned for each of us to get an equal amount of extra spending money for personal items. We've agreed to include personal care and clothing in that as well.
I'm not someone who buys clothes every month, and I mostly thrift what I do buy, so I've always had more than enough for that. I have a super simple skincare routine, and I'm not buying that every month, either. Even if I did buy a lot, I have the same amount available as my husband does for those things.
