If you want to try something new with churros, you can make them in a waffle iron. The outside of these churros made in a waffle iron is crispy, and the inside is soft. They have a delicious cinnamon-sugar coating. Great for dessert or a sweet treat!
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 cup water. 2 tablespoons sugar. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Vegetable oil for brushing waffle iron. 1/4 cup granulated sugar for coating. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for coating. Chocolate sauce or caramel sauce optional, for dipping.
Instructions: Put water, sugar, butter, and salt in a saucepan. Bring up the temperature. Now take it off the heat and mix in the vanilla extract. All at once, add the flour and mix it in until a dough forms. Warm up your waffle iron and lightly oil it with vegetable oil so that it doesn't stick. Put a piping bag with a star tip on top of the churro dough. Make sure not to overcrowd the waffle iron when you pipe the dough onto it in a spiral shape. It will take about 5 to 7 minutes of cooking until the churros are golden brown and crispy. Please close the waffle iron. To coat, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mix to cover them all the way through while they are still warm. If you want, you can dip the waffle iron churros in chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
