This beautiful iridescent ground beetle is Chlaenius tricolor. Found it at my porch light last week.

One of the thousand-plus Vivid Metallic Ground Beetles. This one is only found in a smallish part of SW Australia.

A chlaenius meets a spider. During this project, Mathilde and I worked on visual effects integrated to live-action footage. It was really cool to forget our screens for some hours and to film outside !
Rencontre entre un chlaenius et une araignée. Ce projet nous a permis à Mathilde et moi de travailler sur l’intégration de la 3D dans un décor réel.
C’est bien agréable de décrocher de son écran pendant quelques heures pour aller shooter en extérieur !

#601 - Laemostenus complanatus - Cosmopolitan Ground Beetle
IDed by Ken Walker at BowerBird. Large black Carab beetles, although the genus is better known for the vivid metallics - indeed, Vivid Metallics is one of the common names.
Occasionally quite common in Perth - I've found garages swarming with them - presumably gathering to mate.There's about 1000 species in this genus alone, found worldwide, and 8 described from Australia.
Like all the Carabs I know about, fast and vicious predators with large eyes and fearsome jaws.

EDIT: Wrong ID again - not Chlaenius, actually a European species that is well-established in Australia, and other parts of the world. Occasionally enters buildings, in startling numbers.
