toooo be fair it wasnt amazingly done because there were some loose threads and plotholes here and there i think but overall i loooved the set design and character development . maybe there couldve been more buildup esp for mary and clark but it wasnt crazy lacking . ill be honest im not a crazy horror buff because i really do get freaked out at basically anything even tho horror is the only genre to consistently interest me.

Anyways my favorite parts were probably when they lowered the stoner down into the laundry pit and then he gets yanked down and eaten basically That whole scene was built up well even if kind of obvious sequence of events.

also the final scene of mary getting interrogated after the whole ordeal felt very lacking and unsubstantial Like just not a productive conversation because i wouldve really liked it to give a liiittle more info and stuff BUT the end montage of significant scenes/locations thruout the movie now having their backrooms version was GOOD as fuuuck . i think the idea of the backrooms being a "memory" of life and people was done rather well and hammered in at that point . also the dining scene where clark and mary argue-> he kinda brutalizes the backrooms people -> he gets eaten by his own? memory person was done really well and really freaky .

I will say there was the aspect of seagulls flying around the backrooms and a few dead ones being found thruout the movie felt like a missed opportunity for another type of symbolism/storytelling because the "window" is pretty heavily played on thruout the movie but the dead seagulls just happened a few times . i feel like they do serve a pretty subtle symbolic something ? but it couldve been leaned on way more i think without making it superrr obvious.

ALSO the whole "secret company researching the backrooms" couldve been built on a liiitle more thruout the movie like there was the very opening scene of some guy getting lost in there -> random scene of a family where the dad was secretly one of those backrooms researchers obviously -> the part where mary escapes and is taken into that facility . that part felt pretty naked and couldve definitely been built on/involved more without ruining the exploration thing going on i think .
