joseph has thrown his heart against the glass, popped it like a parachute. exploded, it squeaks and slides down the window pane. the path of red it leaves is what I call agony. anguish never dries. fear shivers and sinks beneath another layer of eggshell paint, visible only by black light. joseph takes his finger and tests the hole left in his chest. his fingers come away yellow from all the sunlight filtering out. he holds his elbows awkwardly straight out from his body, like a gunshot victim, asks if anybody has any glue, if anybody knows how to keep their organs inside without the duct-tape of skin, and no one answers. the heart on the window begins to turn blue, drops to the sill, faintly beats like a cymbal. like a frightened boy caught shoplifting, joseph peels the wet thing from the window, slips it back between his ribs, begins to weep. his hands have become walls holding the agony inside. inside, the heart begins to turn green and to grow. it aches like you would imagine it would ache after all of this. it does not fit the same anymore, like a plant transplanted back into its first pot, how its roots furl and weave together, consuming. 1. Regardless of money/future/career/anything, if you could get any degree in college, what would you major in? Creative Writing.

2. What is your favorite holiday song? Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Christmas Waltz—the entire Carpenters’ Christmas album! I LOVE Karen Carpenter’s voice. Also the She & Him Christmas record. And Bing Crosby. And all of the beautiful old stuff my mom plays throughout December.

3. What do you want to name your children? (if you want any!) Anna, but I’d call her Annie when she’s little. Maybe Ezra?

4. How would you describe your style? Lazy College Student Who Hasn’t Grown Since 6th Grade.

5. What do you think of the Kardashians? I don’t understand their appeal!

6. If you had to have any one disease, but you could choose what is was, what disease would you pick? According to Wikipedia, food poisoning counts as an infectious disease so I’ll go with that since I’d get over it quickly.

7. What Apple products do you own, if any? An iPhone and an iPod.

8. What is your favorite time period in history? The Russian Revolution and the Elizabethan Era. Also the 20’s because I’m a pretentious Fitzgerald fan.

9. Are you in a relationship/do you want to be in a relationship right now? I’m dating Nick and kind of ridiculously twitterpated about him.

10. If you could only see one color for the rest of your life (everything is black and white except for this one color) what color would it be? Yellow.

11. On a scale from 1-10, how swag are you? Off the charts. Like a 19.
