Finally getting my back checked out and finally getting medication to ease the pain (for the first time in six months) means, in the last 2 days, I have:
Written/edited 13 poems
Submitted 12 poems to 3 different literary magazines
Started work on my essay 5 days in advance
Read for leisure
Have fallen asleep easily and slept for 9 straight hours, 2 nights in a row
I have the pleasure of sitting behind a boy in my graphics class who makes fucking masterpieces.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Among the Screams in Albany
At the end of the tunnel
leading to Red Lab,
pinned to the post that
juts from the rough-hewn brick
by a yellow tack,
rests the sign.
In the voice of an enraged
slam poet,
the thick pen letters seem to
call out every person who
trudges by in the
sleet:
WHERE ARE THE TREES
No question mark to end stop
the scream, like a shepherd
able to crook his flock from around the body
of a fallen sheep.
I continue to pass the grass glade each day.
The red flowers grow in splotches
around the disturbed earth.
Puddles gather in the furrows,
still filled with reflections of an autumn
that will not come this year.
It is as if a cemetery belongs here.
I feel the hollow ground echo in my
heart:
WHERE ARE THE TREES
as if asking,
is this the price of recovery?
The willow trees offers
ransom to me,
the last leaves of the missing trees
sell themselves to the soil,
a backwards auction,
and the paper sign seems
to call softer now,
sobered by its own creation:
WHERE ARE THE TREES
As if by a pin too, the sign and willow
hold me heart and foot to this place
where, weeks ago, a sycamore
screamed like a chainsaw,
its roots forgotten,
limbs drawn and quartered from its body
in mock redemption.
They seem to beg
in grief for the return of the trees;
angry less at the destroyers
who ripped them out
for decay;
angry more with the
dying Sycamore,
who, in emptying,
left its rot
to feed them.
Some days,
I fear this is the same
of the grief in me.
Started a new blog just for my poetry.
Here’s a new poem I wrote for my poetry class today. :)

“Here is what I know: You drink your coffee black and we are afraid of each other. Once you kissed my neck in front of your friends and it made me very shy. Once you kissed my stomach and I started crying. I see the tender way you touch things and want to kiss your nose but I keep my mouth to myself. Your collarbones are craters big enough to fit my fist into. You are the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in months. I was not good to the last person I loved so I punished my heart (I let it break and bleed out then roughly sewed it back together) It is hard to write poems when I only know how to fuck you. I am always trying. I am thinking of Somedays. I am saying goodbye. You asked why I never write anything honest so I am writing you this.”
Clementine von Radics (via hushedsweetnothings)
You have 6 tattoos. Full lips. Good, strong hands. You have 7 freckles on your back, they map out the big dipper. You have a scar on your left arm you carved in high school. The first time you pulled off your t shirt I traced the line with my fingers and fell in love with your strength. You are a hero for living from that moment to this one. You never need to apologize for how you chose to survive Your body is a map I know every inch of and if anyone else were to kiss me, all they would taste is your name.
