Why did you choose chemical engineering? I am really interested in creating cosmetic formula and have been contemplating chemical engineering. I know they aren't the same thing but the overlap is what is making want to go that route. Math is my strong suit but I'm not bad at it. I just have to try harder than most subjects. This is a bit discouraging and idk how to figure out if I should go for it. Thoughts?
hiii omg sorry i dont know how long this has been sitting in here
i feel like this is going to be long so i apologize in advance lol
when i choose my degree i was between physics and engineering in general, and i choose engineering because it was a lot more practical (as in, it would give me many room to explore different jobs and try different things) and also because it was the safer? option. but it still is a very practical career, so i choose chem eng in part because it allowed more room for "theory" than my other options. also i really like chemistry and knowing what stuff is made of and just how it WORKS and tbh the development of new stuff is part of that (sorry i don't know how to phrase it better lol)
as for what you are interested in, chem eng has a lot A LOT of practical uses and you can pretty much go into almost everything that involves developing chemical stuff? i've never heard of any chem engineer that develops cosmetics, but then again i never heard of many chem engineers until i started university. so the posibilities are endless. what i would recommend though is checking the subjects you will have because for example my faculty doesn't teach a lot of bio stuff (which you probably need for cosmetics) (i think i just have organic chem and then a few electives i can choose) and i think in general any engineering is oriented more towards industrial thingies. but i also think that if you study chem engineering and want to go down that path you would not have any problems (more than maybe take a few more courses but that's a given)
and to tackle the math issue............. listen i like math in general. i hate my classes because i find them boring and tedious and i just wanna APPLY them lol they are not a walk in the park either BUT i dont think you should ever be discouraged from a certain degree just because of a few hard math courses
sorry this is so long (and probably late omg) but i hope it helps somehow! :)
