February spreads you were great! But now itās time for March! Iām ready for longer days and warmer weather lol
I LOVE Excel! I took an Excel class during University and I've never stopped using or learning about it since. During my summer internship, I would literally use Excel functions and macros for hours every single day. Even if you don't want to be an Excel fanatic, learning a few basic functions will make your life easier (and even impress a few managers along the way!).
I've outlined below some of the most useful Excel functions to learn. Some of these functions are very basic but can make a huge difference. These functions save time, automate procedures, and make your life easier! And if you need some help on how to learn them, I've listed some helpful resources to get you started. With all of us social distancing at home, now is as good of a time as any to add a skill to your resume.Ā
Excel Functions to Know:
SUM: returns sum of cells selected
SUMPRODUCT: multiplies ranges or arrays together and returns the sum of product
IF: return one value for a TRUE result and another for a FALSE result
SUMIF: returns the sum of cells if the cell meets a single condition
AVERAGEIF: computes the average of the numbers in a range that meets a certain criteria
VLOOKUP: lookup and retrieve data from a specific column in a table can be exact or approximate match
LEFT: returns a given number of characters from the left side of text string
RIGHT: returns a given number of characters from the right side of text string
CONCATENATE: joins the text of cells together and returns the joined text in one cell
LENGTH: returns the given number of characters in a text
Resources:
Excel Jet: Very useful as a type of Excel dictionary to look up syntax and specific formulas you don't know
Excel Easy: almost like on online textbook for Excel (great resource for those who have no knowledge of Excel at all!)
Udemy: paid excel course with lots of videos, assignments, and downloadable resources
Coursera: self-paced learning option, quizzes and assignments, and a course certificate
Excel Youtube Course by Technology for Teachers and Students
Datacamp (7/12/20 edit thanks anon for the suggestion!)
Prologue to my Excel series
I'll also be posting Excel tips, tricks, function explanations, and some basic Excel tutorials so if you'd like to see more appear on your dash in the future, follow my blog and look for my Excel series.
hey! these are some tips on how to make studying less boring. this may not make studying "fun" for you, but it can make it seem less dull.
----
1. Study with friends
Studying with friends can motivate you to complete your work as you are seeing others do the same. You can also help each other if you are having trouble with the topic.
2. Listen to music
Listening to calm background music can put you in a better mood and make studying less stressful. It can also distract you from other noises and allow you to focus on your studying. (the usage of music depends on what type of work you are doing, as it can be distracting in some cases)
3. Use āniceā stationery
If you are the type of person that likes to use new/pretty stationery, then this can motivate you to study. (nice stationery does not mean better grades though)
4. Study in a new place
You can try out something new by studying in a new location to reduce the monotony of sitting in the same place every day. It can be a library, park, or even a different place in your home.
5. Try new methods
Instead of using the same method every day, you can try new methods to see what works best for you. You can make flashcards, find a similar set on Quizlet, or watch a video on YouTube.
isnāt the sky so brave? to be so wonderfully consistent that everyone expects its sights, and forgets to look up. but when you take the time to sit and admire, all youāre left to say in awe is, āoh.ā the beauty of consistency is not in the monotony or the repetition but in the perfection created from it.

iām trying really hard to find a way to do things, not because iām motivated to do them but because i need to. itās really difficult and honestly, the only way my adhd even agrees to it is that i have to constantly post online about what iām doing to hold myself accountable, even if no one ever reads this blog. i want to grow and be happier and achieve my goals. i hope that one day, those goals will become an everyday life for me that i can find ways to get bored of. i want to be in a place where, looking back, i remember that i worked so hard to get there.

if any other academics needed validation: school is tough but you got this
yep, school is hard. its a grind. its a full time job and some of us even have actual jobs on top of this academic job. itās not easy at all. but, in times of trial and tribulation (like me crying over math yesterday, me failing classes in the past, getting rejected from internships or other academic extracurriculars youāre excited for), we have to remember our why. remember the reason you started this journey, the feeling learning something new gives you. the rush of excitement when you figure something out. that sense of accomplishment when you write that prolific paper thatās gonna win a nobel prize or a pulitzer. or a freaking degree lmao.
finding meaning in everything, the highs and the lows, will keep you going. for if you know your why and stay true to it, you can face any how.
03/23/2020; quarantineĀ challenge week 1: monday
have you made a study schedule to help you study at home?
iām still technically on spring break, so when i actually study (you know, instead ofĀ āstudyingā) itās just really for fun. but, this week my scheduleās going to be packed with AP review sessions and fun classes iām taking online, so iāll be forced to work around those schedules.
7.27.2020 || frank, who just got re-potted, makes a reappearance!
clearly i have nowhere decent to take studyspo pics cuz this is the second time iāve used this wall lmao. not to worry tho, i just got a desk for my apartment!! and u can bet that itās aesthetic enough for studyspo pictures š
