re: Hilda and opportunities/privilege
I really wish Hilda had a different support chain with Annette or, barring that, a support chain with Ingrid and/or Ashe. But Annette specifically I feel like would have been the perfect character to put Hilda in her place. Annette's frustration over Sylvain being better than her without really trying is one of the only supports in 3H that had any staying power in my mind. So, her being established as someone who has to work hard to achieve great things DESPITE her noble background would offer a great contrast to Hilda being content to use her privileged status to coast by in life, and I really wish we got to see Annette's temper flare over this instead of some bullshit about Hilda being too lazy to clean up after herself (I think it's worth mentioning that I had to look up their support to remind myself).
There's a lot that can be said about the weight of opportunity and how suffocating others' expectations can be, and how privileged and selfish that can appear from the outside looking in. Unfortunately, Hilda actually IS a privileged and selfish brat, because "suffocating under others' expectations" and "refusing to do chores and manipulating people into doing them for you" is comparing apples to oranges.
That's the thing, Hilda herself... never really gets pushback on her behavior! Not in a way that's meaningful or cutting.
The best example is Cyril, and even he has to be hit with a "you're different from the rest" from her and her brother at A support. After that is Seteth, who can't even do too much given he's a staff member and not a peer who can relay social consequences for her actions.
Her repercussions are minimal and soft. Because ultimately, she's shacked up with people who aren't gonna get on her case about it too much. Ferdie and Annette are too kind, the Deer are all wrapped up in their own problems or being coached by Hilda to be cute or whatever. It's extremely vapid and tiring to deal with a character like her.
