I’m gonna use the New Unova Dex for this one.

Krookodile: I had one on my first playthrough so I have to put this here. It was one of my favorites, and it still is.

Seismitoad: Reliable Water-type for all your water needs.

Excadrill: I’ve had one and I keep forgetting to get a shiny one.

Flygon: It’s a Dragon-type. I adore Dragon-types.

Golurk: I’ve had one, and they know Fly.

Thanks for sending me more of your old Pokemon misconceptions! They're really fun to read, and I'm noticing some common misunderstandings among you guys (and myself, too)!

@carrotquill @internationalfeel Funny, you both thought the same thing about Lapras! I feel like it does seem like a gen 2 Pokemon for some reason. Maybe it is the style, like carrotquill suggested. But I had a similiar exprience with the Marill/Azumarill line, except that I always think that it's gen 3 for some reason - maybe because that's when Azurill was introduced?

@blazer-the-delphox I think I had the same misconception about breeding until gen 3, since I had one of those game guide books for it, and I think it talked about breeding a bit. I remember thinking the same thing about Wurmple's evolution branch, though!

Honestly, it’s nowhere near as bad as some of the other things Hopeless has written (see Avengers Arena/Undercover), but there are still a couple things that make me uncomfortable with it. Jess has always been portrayed as someone who hates children, and the whole baby story feels really out of place considering her past interactions with babies. With this one, I’ll grant that there are a few exceptions, but a lot of the time Jess has basically felt like the dumb muscle to Ben Urich, who is often the one that actually advances the plot. I will admit that I haven’t read much of the post-Secret Wars half, so it may have gotten better for all I know, but again, based on Hopeless’s other work, I kind of doubt it. After all, Avengers Arena/Undercover killed off a black character to hook up his girlfriend with a guy who’s super power was being white, suggested that those with ptsd are basically Nazis, erased the leadership abilities of multiple women and poc to make room for his new white characters, and threw in the suggestion of pedophilia as a joke.
