I'm gonna try to be succinct about this but SO much happened that it is REALLY difficult fo focus on this one, tiny event, even though it's the most absurd thing
So basically, I play a gacha game. For those who don't know, gacha are literal gambling games. Devs design these games with literal predatory gambling tactics in mind to get people who play addicted & if you aren't aware, you can easily fall victim to it. I won't go into the explanation, bc the deep dives on them are out there & they are worth listening to if you're not aware of them bc it isn't just "spending on microtransactions"; It's SO much more than that. Please go look into gachas & how predatory they are if you are not aware bc I'm not gonna get into it here otherwise we'd be here all day.
I play one. Originally, the age in the iphone/play stores were set differently. They were 18/17 (can't remember which is which), but quickly reduced to 17/16. Then came 16/15. Then 14.
Recently, the age has been reduced all the way to 12+.
Let's think for a minute about why devs of a gambling game might want their game marketed to such a young age group. Hmm...
Oh. Yes. That's right! Money! From their parents!
Anyways. A 12 year old joined our server a little while back. And I'm sure some teens are in the server, but that's whatever.
Listen, this isn't the point here, but...
The dialogue in this game is sexually suggestive & explicit at times. And there is cursing all the time. Things I'm sure some parents wouldn't want a literal 12 year old hearing or seeing. Or asking about.
And honestly? The topics in the storyline are a bit complicated for a 12 year old so Idk wtf they're thinking other than "money". Why they're not thinking "sued by angry moms!" is beyond me lol.
But this isn't the point.
One predatory tactic gachas use is creating INSANE amounts of servers to trap the players they caught in the beginning into constantly changing servers to "start fresh" when their server dies. (Look into it via deeps if you want.)
We are almost to server 50 in this game. Absurd, yes, but normal for gachas.
So bc we have so many servers & we are all basically aware of each other, we make discords for each server. We have to talk out certain things for guild related & cross server battles, as well as raids & other such things. So it's useful. It's also fun to be able to chat with everyone!
But here is where the problem comes in.
I was talking to someone the other night in a locked, private channel for leadership only. We all know there are only adults on this leadership channel. We had been talking about something to do with the game & it naturally progressed into personal stuff & we were just having a regular convo. Somehow that devolved into religion. I don't even remember how. Me & another person in guild found out we both came from a cult background & bonded over that. Nothing untoward was said UNTIL someone from the creation of the discord popped in & basically told us all to move the convo to the public, venting channel & implied that we needed to stop talking bc of the derogatory & inappropriate nature of the conversation. Which we were fine with moving the convo but we were basically done talking bc we had things to do. At that point, they pissed me off, though, so I said, "Yeah, I absolutely will be derogatory about it & I will fight anyone who tries to talk to me about it. I didn't have all those religion classes, get taught by nuns in that private, catholic school, go to church 3 times a week & memorize that book a million times over for nothing. I also took theology classes in uni. I'll fight them with their own words. I'd be happy to debate or fight anyone if they want this to be derogatory bc I can & will make it that way with my biases. I also love a good civil debate, but if you're gonna come at me like that, it's not going to be." Obviously not exactly what I said, BUT same same.
Later on (like... idk... half an hour? An hour? 20 mins? What is time? 😭), another guildie came in and was hearting some of my messages, as well as others, & was telling me they were a gay Christian & what they thought of xyz. I was super happy to talk to them & told them my ex was a poly pansexual christian & they were like "Wait, no way, those are my LITERAL labels, too!"
So we had a couple exchanges of really excited messages. I was working so my messages were much shorter than I wanted them to be, but they were going in depth on what they thought of xyz regarding christianity from that pov & it really touched my heart, since you don't see that a lot. I was constantly sending emojis of little cats dancing around hearts to express how much I was loving to hear this bc I couldn't type out what I wanted to actually say with work in my face.
But then all of a sudden, I see a ping from the same person who had said smth earlier.
They're now whining about how "inappropriate" these conversations have become on this discord lately & how they are glad their kid doesn't play this game. They asked if we could please censor ourselves, bc a 12 year old plays on our server & other kids probably do, too, & we need to keep it PG, arguing that the age for the game is labeled as 12+.
At that point, I put my work aside.
I went off on them bc, no. Absolutely the fuck not.
Idr what I said & can't pull it up or ss it, otherwise I'd simply post it here for everyone to see in a ss. The whole thing. But they erased the entire board after muting me for 24 hrs. So here is my best approximation, definitely not verbatim. I type in multiple snippets of messages & was responding to maybe 3 or 4 people attacking me at once about this, believe it or not.
So here is my best approximation.
"Absolutely the fuck not. I will not censor myself for you or for anyone. We already live in a censored state & I'm not going to deprive children even further of knowledge of this world. Especially not in a LITERAL GAMBLING GAME. It isn't MY job to raise someone else's kids. If you think I am going to fucking censor myself here or in the game for children who are on this not-PG *gambling* game, you're absolutely insane."
Which is when they started hyper-focusing on .....wait for it........
I have NO idea. Absolutely ZERO idea.
I'm a sex repulsed asexual. Orgasms gross me out. Everything sexual grosses me out. But these absolute psychos were deadset on making this about talking about orgasms. SPECIFICALLY.

And she is SOOOOO GLAD her kid doesn't play this game & isn't in this server bc HOW INAPPROPRIATE IT IS to talk about orgasms like this!
She said she'd mute me for 24 hours, which I said "Okay? That's fine? I mean, I could just leave the server instead....."
I ALMOST....ALMOST....said "Kinda seems like you might need to keep some honest people around to talk to you since your kid won't be talking to you in a few years, but okay. A mute is fine." BUT I DID SOMETHING I DON'T EVER DO & HELD MY TONGUE & LEFT THE SERVER AFTER SHE MUTED ME. 🫠
But there was one comment I didn't catch until MUUUUUUUCH later in the night. Like at least 3 hrs later.
Idr what EXACTLY she said... but she said something along the lines of, "I know it's pride month, but we don't have to talk so inappropriately about sex."
