A couple of days ago I wore a little choker around my neck that looked like a ribbon. I just happened to have it, but wearing it was purposeful.
I didn't think anyone would pick up on the reference. We wear collars and chokers enough that this one wasn't necessarily a shock - I think I've even worn it before - but my boss picked up on it really quickly.
I sat at the bar while they were doing dishes, their fiance sitting to my right. I just got back from doing a chore, and the way they brought it up suggested they had talked about it at least briefly before I sat down.
The ribbon around your neck reminds me of that one story, about the lady whose head would fall off if she removed it?
I know it's not some sort of buried story; it's been retold in games and things, but I was still pleasantly surprised they picked up on it. I didn't draw any attention to it or anything, but my point still got across. I told them that was actually what I was referencing, and they went "yeah, you seem the type." (Kindly. Affectionately).
They have no idea I'm a dullahan, or that I like Durarara!! or anything. They have no reason outside of knowing the story to make that association. It made me wonder if other people made that aasociation too, just in the back of their mind. I hope so ð
