Dear Princess Twilight,
First off, wonderful to see you again dear! Never feel bad for missing a scheduled thing, time is a weird soup. Your questions are always a delight and you should be at liberty to send them at your own leisure!
It's always a tossup how long it takes to awaken a kintype. Typically it's somewhere in the middle of consuming a piece of media, but I've had a fair amount of outliers! Celes, for one, was a kintype I awakened to long after I'd first read the original translation LP of Danganronpa back in 2013-- two years after, I think. It was only when I'd replayed the game myself on my Vita when it was localized that I realized what had struck me so strongly with both her and the game itself. I had a pretty similar experience with Tohru, though I'd first read Fruits Basket when I was a kid and always strongly related to Tohru and lived by many of her life lessons. It was less of a realization upon revisiting and more of a gradual retrospective "oh wait, THAT'S what that is".
For a stranger example, I've also had kintypes I'd known about *before* even getting into the source-- once before even knowing about it! I'd had the most vivid dreams of highly specific scenarios as a young child. While some things were changed as often is with dreams, it was downright eerie when the better part of a decade later I was shown a series at my college anime club that played those dreams out scene for scene. And almost none of those scenes were terribly pleasant. It shook me up for weeks-- call that a rude awakening, ahaha! I've never had it happen since where I knew about a kin before even knowing about the series, but sometimes you see a character's face from something you don't know and it just feels far too familiar.
Sincerely,
#🍙🗡🧁
