The black-haired fellow leaned his chair back on two legs, peering at the elves moving around the bar. Â "What about the redhead?â he asked, sotto voce.
His table partner leaned over to see who he was looking at. Â âThe red -- oh no, noâ she replied, blond curls shaking. Â âHeâs taken. Â Heâs chatting up that magistrix, see?â
âPfft. Â Youâre prettier. Â Just walk up and --â
âWhat? Â No.â
â-- say something like Hi, my nameâs Cear --â
âNo.â
â-- your pants, my Hand of Freedom, what do you say --â
She burst out laughing and had to cover her mouth. âZavy, no!â
âWhy not?â
âI canât! Â Look -- look, you like him so much, you go ask him out.â
âNah, heâs not Kiraâs type. Â If Kira liked sharing, which he doesnât. Â Iâm just here for the eye candy, babe. Â And to help you out, of course.â
âI donât need help,â Cearalaith laughed.
Zavyrian smiled. Â âWell, youâre getting it anyway. Â I canât let all this charm just go to waste. Â But okay, fine. Â What about that one over there -- the lady in crimson and gold.â
âCrimson and gold?  Zavy, thatâs half the elves in this bar.â Cearalaith twisted up her lips doubtfully, even as she turned in her seat to take a look.  âAnd lady?  Iâm not really into -- I mean, Iâve never actually -- well, there was that once, but....â  Her eyes found the woman in question, and she blinked.  â...oh.âÂ
Zavyrian grinned, leaning forward. Â âOh?â
Cearalaith blushed.
"Oh???â
She turned around and set stony green eyes on him. Â âOkay, I need your help,â she said softly. Â âAnd it had better be better than Hand of bloody Freedom.â
