OVERVIEW

This document will provide a basic outline and plan to organize information and create the  structure for an educational platform to teach about different aspects of cannabis used for all levels of the supply chain and consumption.

GOALS

Outline the main subjects to be educated on including cultivation, extraction, processing, manufacturing, transportation, security, retail, patient care, medical research, and overall macroview of the industry.

 Provide macro overview and micro ground level view of each category.

Create a common vocabulary among students.

Explain the difference in products, business models, and distribution methods attached to each category.

SPECIFICATIONS

This document will be used as a general overview to organize and structure the main topics to be covered by a vertically integrated cultivation, processing, and retail organization. 

Overview

Breaking down the separate elements of the different main categories will be highly dependent on if we want to focus mainly on the system and the way we plan operate for company purposes, building out the SOPs - standard operating procedures and techniques that will be used by the master grower and extractors will be the optimal route to go, extracurricular training and methodology can be added after the core of the platform serves the function of educating our organization.

Cultivation

All SOPs and guidelines for plant care and maintenance should be reviewed and approved by the master grower and their managerial staff as a collective effort to be approved by corporate and execute staff. Properly collecting and documenting these practices will not only remove pain points in staff training but also allow for potential accreditation documentation to be more easily attained.

Clones and Seeds

The cultivation section will cover genetic selection and the cover differences between clones, seeds, auto flowers, and the main type of strains and cultivar and how they are produced.

We will go in depth on the pros and cons of the strains we propagate and why we use them. As well as the traits of other strains and their applications (outdoors, greenhouse, short seasons, hemp) to help provide a macro view.

The standard procedures for taking clones and seed germination will be covered. From the cutting of the material from mother plants, to the rooting agent and rooting method, to the incubation time until moving to vegetative growth cycle.

Explanations for the actions from the perspective of nature (why is the plant doing this).

Training on plant management will be covered, including deficiencies, troubleshooting, inventory,   and scheduling will be included.

Vegetative cycle

The standard procedures for pruning plants and any training techniques (low stress training, high stress training, super-cropping, super-topping, scroggins, Sea of green) will be covered. We will focus on the sea of green technique and utilizing the system we purchase, preferably with in-house made training videos and manuals set to our master growers parameters.

Explaining and documenting procedures for maintenance such as pruning, cleaning bio-materials and equipment, pest control, mold control, and other factors will be covered.

The growing schedule will outline not only the crop rotation and harvesting schedule but also feeding, moving, watering, flushing, and harvesting schedules as well to be monitored consistently and within procedure guidelines.

Nutrient guidelines and uses will be explained, to include basic remediation procedures for deficiencies or other complications.

Proper pest control and scheduling  will be explained including methodology behind the different compounds that will be used.

Flowering

The main concepts of why the plant is being induced into flowering and how it is done.

Explain the concept of stretching and optimal placement of lights to penetrate the plants canopy.

Explain the difference between the light spectrums and what their use is for.

Explain how different lighting solution effect and are used in the flowering processes (high pressure sodium, led, mixed lighting)

Explain company SOPs for maintenance and pruning.

Explain the nutrition schedule and reasoning behind each compound.

Extraction

The main forms of extraction will be covered and given the pros and con of each type.

A basic history and explanation of how extraction technology has been used and adapted to cannabis.

Explain the cannabis laws and how they different from state to state and country to country and why that is relevant to extracting. (THC remediation)

Go over the history of the confusion between hemp and cannabis, including a comprehensive explanation of the different cannabinoids, how they are chemically related and comfortable with each other.

A full guide on terminology for B2B and retail extractions, explaining the benefits and negatives between them and their therapeutic or industrial uses.

Go over and explain the company SOPs for each extraction process and the parameters in which to operate the machinery in.

All cleaning and safety protocols.

Unified terminology on extracts.

Processing

The head extractor and executive management will decide the main products we will produce for retail and B2B sales, this will be the focus of education but will cover the broad range of products and their uses.

Unified vocabulary that covers the difference between Full spectrum, Broad Spectrum, Isolatations, Distillates, and Crude oils and their uses and applications in derivative products.

Understand the concepts and processes of decarboxylation and winterization for use in post processing and for derivative products.

Explain and discuss generic crude oil products such as tinctures, capsules, topicals, and pastes and why they are used.

Understand the ways different extracts and carrier oils are used in different products, ratios, business models, and by consumers.

SOPs for processing each product will be identified and documented for implementation, preferably with videos created by the head formulator to explain the process.

SOPs for flower processing, such as trimming, packaging

Full classes on lab regulations and different qualifications.

Manufacturing

The basics of packaging to cover common items such as vape cartridges, containers, jars, doob tubes, and include which packaging features and concerns.

Explain how child proof tampering devices and packaging is used.

The explanation on how to package flowers and extracts to include storage and transportation requirements.

Include explanations on how to operate sealing and packaging equipment.

Explanation of logo printing and printer functionality.

Transportation -

The platform will cover all aspects of regulations for the State of Maine surrounding transportation as well and general good practices for concern of the product integrity.

All delivery drivers or delivery service protocols will be documented and provided. 

Include explanation of entering batch information into tracking software.

Security

The security plan for the facilities and retail space will be reviewed and studied by all employees, generic security plans will be discussed and given as examples.

Safety and emergency protocols will be covered as well as been given the opportunity to practice.

Reporting of violations, waste, or fraud will be taught and a number provided to the designated organization.

Explain chain of command during emergency situations or reporting problems.

Retail

Proper education on the different cannabinoids and their interactions with the endocannabinoid system will be the focus on retail. While steering clear of offering any medical advice unless we have the proper documentation and certified worker to make medical recommendations.

All retail SOPs will cover everything from cash deposits, tracking, sales, storage, display, and general good retail practices for operating a dispensary.

The platform will cover how to read IDs, spot fakes, and follow all local regulations on ID requirements.

Include training on credit card machines and cryptocurrency usage.

Explain U.S. banking regulation issues.

Patient Care 

Generic information on medical applications of cannabis will be covered for educational purposes and not to offer medical advice unless authorized to do so or following generally practice dosage guidelines.

Dosage guidelines will be covered for all products for if ease use and expectations, specifically focusing on edibles to prevent accidental overdoses and unwanted symptoms.

The educational platform will source the most recent scientific literature as well as cover the history of cannabis research and development.

Explanation of the ECS and what the full spectrum effect is conjunction with different chemo-profiles.

Link to all the self regulating science bodies on cannabis (International Cannabinoid Institute, peer reviewed studies, etc.)

Explain how current research is conducted and what the general trends are globally.

Tracking System

Depending on which seed to sale system we plan to operate on, the platform should go very deep on the protocols of the system to prevent any clerical errors that will lead to transportation or receiving logistical problems.

Understand the process of receiving and inputting all relevant information.

Explain the different way applying the tracking software to live inventory control as well as implementation to advertising sources (weedmaps, leafly).
