The Coming New Year
I had an interesting thought about christmas and new years, Jesus is going to be born and just as he is going to be experiencing the world we should try to go into the new year with childlike wonder.
Be hopeful for the future because we know that God is our salvation.
Just wanted to share a thought.

I hope people enjoy this. If not let me know.

Me: *reading a book on the history of saints and their feast day celebrations* ah yes, my chores are done and I can finally curl up and do some reading on the incredible lives of the saintly body and all their wonders.
Book: January 1st is the day in which we mark and observe the circumcision of Christ.
Me:

Blessing of Throats
February 3rd is the feast day of Saint Blaise, celebrated with the Blessing of the Throats. Blaise of Sebaste happens to be the patron saint of wool workers, stonecutters, animals, veterinarians, and most importantly, throat disease(s).
The story goes that St. Blaise was on his way to prison (or already in prison - accounts vary), when he healed a young boy who was choking on a fish bone. Some say he simply prayed over him, but the more popular version involves St. Blaise crossing two candles over the boy’s throat as he prayed. Either way, the boy survived.
To celebrate and commemorate this event, two white candles are held in the form of a cross - usually tied together by a red ribbon - and held over the throat while a prayer is read:
Prayer from the picture:
Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Say the prayer for protection against throat ailments, make the sign of the cross, and thank Saint Blaise for his intercession!
And maybe drink some tea! ~
