I stopped practicing Italian folk magic sometime ago, but I do still like learning about the subject when possible.

We already have two conceptions outlining a broad picture of what  Italian stregoneria is : (1) a diverse set of vernacular magic traditions that bring together elements that characterize the figure of the witch as a person capable of doing evil – as well as good – through magical powers, which brings together in its practices the elements that are commonly associated with what is understood as witchcraft, such as necromancy, magic, wisdom about nature and its medicinal and spiritual uses, social marginality and association with nocturnal or obscure symbols, and among these elements there may – or may not – be found (2) ecstatic elements such as nocturnal flying, participation in processions of souls of the dead, animal transfiguration, etc.

Imbolc is the time when light returns — fragile, milky, inevitable.
