My friend’s cats are definitely planning a murder
Work- Caleigh and Mia
Date: 1st November 2019
Location: Bake my Day
With: @caleighgx
It was around lunchtime, when Mia got home from Tom’s. Her eyes were sore and she felt exhausted but she had promised Caleigh that she would work an extra shift, so she had a quick shower, tied her hair into a bun and headed downstairs to the bakery. Mia knew she probably looked tired and her voice was a little hoarse from the night before. She took over from the other sales girl and started serving till the queue was gone.
Now in the cold light of day, Mia was worried. She had told Tom he was her father and she had also told her mother that she had told him. Tom had taken it better than expected, but she knew her mom would come to town soon and kick her ass. She stood at the register and tried to keep busy. During a lull of customers, Mia went out the back and couldn't help but let the tears fall. It was only when she heard a noise, that she knew someone else was there. “ Hi..” She said wiping her eyes. “ I.. er.. got flour in my eyes.” The lame lie was all she could manage.

The first big piece of information Tessa received upon returning to Wilmington was that there was a new owner of Bake My Day. To be quite frank, she couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than Caleigh Greer. The woman adored her work, it was more than obvious to Tessa based on the conversations they had and the time they spent there. Of course, she couldn’t wait to congratulate her friend and managed to snag an entire handful of balloons on her way over to the bakery. Tugging open the door carefully so as to not let any of the balloons slip loose and fly away, Tessa practically squealed when she walked inside and spotted Caleigh behind the counter. “Caleigh Greer!” Tessa exclaimed, a wide-tooth grin very much so present on her face. She held up the balloons and smirked. “I think there’s something you forgot to tell me, but don’t worry. I heard it through the grapevine and I’m here to say I could not be more proud of you!”
😜 …someone who makes my muse laugh.
That would be Caleigh ( @jeminiable ) , no doubt. He laughs easily enough, but most often it’s out of a certain social expectation, or politeness. His disconnect and tendency to be ‘stuck’ elsewhere in his head makes it difficult to ‘share’ a laugh, like he suspects others do most of the time. But he’s done this with the guard-captain before, and knows it’s different somehow. She often says things that are strikingly ‘odd’, or surprisingly profound, maybe sometimes without realising it, and these just as often hit him in the laugh-place.
((Thanks, @kharrisdawndancer! Also asked by @saltsparkle! <3))

Restless in Rustberg (Letters)
The last days of August had bled into a rainy September so peacefully Lothis had hardly noticed. Passage between the months and seasons came quietly this year, so quietly that he decided Autumn was yet shy; it only revealed itself to him in the privacy between ‘late’ and ‘early’, when the cool whisper of change lingered on the night wind, or when the sun picked out every leaf that had beaten the others to wear Fall’s livery of crimson and gold. The change started slowly here, even if it was more pronounced than it ever was in Quel’Thalas.
The Little Things
The Dwarven nesting doll smiled cheerfully up at him with what he imagined was barely held laughter. He hadn’t met many dwarves in his life, but he hoped he might meet someone with her outlook soon. Renrael felt his own grin ruck to the side in answer to her.
He always spoke Common to her. “How long you gonna stay on my nightstand this time, yeah? Very cosmopolitan, aren’t ya? Whisking away around the world. Probably been through more portals than I ever will. Probably seen a LOT; I know who’s pocket you usually sit in. Your courtier will be back for you, soon, I’m sure.” He winked and his fingernail tapped against her in a playful cuff; he was careful not to tip her over. He stood up and his eyes drifted over the other bits and bobs on his nightstand as he scrubbed his hand through his hair and sighed. The fish-clock was a gift, and it stood out in the otherwise rather spartan room. He rolled his lips, fingers pausing on the knob, before he wound it carefully. It kept time well. Caleigh was a good engineer it seemed. He swallowed, thinking about the way her mace-flail fit in her hand. He’d never imagined that part of her--there was knowing something, and there was knowing. He didn’t shiver. This time. The tavern was quiet this time in the morning. There were the usuals from town. He could hear Melisande and the kids somewhere in the back kitchen. He pushed out the front door with his hands deep in his pocket and his ears pulled down near to the wool of his sweater. The chill was wonderful, he loved it, but it still played with physical instincts.
This was always the dock he came to without thinking. He sat on the edge. It wasn’t used frequently, which was probably why she’d picked it that night. He could still picture how pretty her hair had looked--she’d put it up. Shining with copper colored brightness, even in the dull evening light of Tol Barad. Her smile had been brighter still. His shoulders hunched and he leaned forward. Still, he smiled at the memory and brought up another of her much more recently. Melisande had grinned after kissing that Tart guy, too. She was made of smiles and sweet tartness, herself. At least Lyn’s money had gotten someone something happy that night. Was he really that confusing? Did he mislead people? .. Wait. Yes, of course, but not about that. At least Trisandrah had been up front.
Sort of.
His brows beetled. The gull that had been hoping for some of the fish suddenly shook his head, flapped without rhythm, tottered between his two slapping feet, ungracefully floundered off the dock, and honestly seemed to wobble into the sky. Ren watched the bird and snorted, knowing just how that bird felt.
Over his shoulder, he thought he could spot Gigi’s spa. She, too, had surprised him with her nonchalant violence. Skills she clearly took for granted: applying mud-masks and bleeding someone who was in her way. He pushed to his feet and made his way toward her shop. He had put it off until he’d felt more settled again, after the Meadowshine adventure and the jaunt to Stormwind with Audemus, but he intended to as the nightborne woman to teach him to fight. She was probably used to people awkwardly asking her to teach them things. He blew out a breath through his cheeks. Well, this was going to be more stabbing than skincare, but you had to start somewhere, right?
