Harbwr Caergybi
Cyhoeddodd Siôr IV ei fwriad o fynd i Iwerddon fis wedi’i goroni a ddigwyddodd yn Abaty San Steffan 19 Gorffennaf 1821. Cododd storm ar ei daith, felly ymwelodd â Chaergybi ar 7fed Awst 1821 a thra'n angori clywodd am farwolaeth ei wraig, Caroline o Frunswick. Nid oedd y ddau yn ffrindiau a mawr fu'r llawenhau ar fwrdd y llong y noson honno. Cyrhaeddodd Iwerddon 12fed Awst, ymweliad cyntaf brenin Lloegr i’r ynys werdd ers y 12fed ganrif.
I goffau'r ymweliad codwyd Bwa Sior IV sydd i'w weld o hyd yn yr harbwr. Gelwir y bwa hefyd yn Fwa’r Buddugoliaeth neu Admiralty Arch ac fe’i hadeiladwyd â marmor o Fae Traeth Coch, Ynys Môn. Fe’i hariannwyd trwy danysgrifiad cyhoeddus ac mae’n nodi terfyn gogleddol ffordd yr A5, a gafodd ei gwella’n fawr gan Thomas Telford. Cwblhawyd rhan fwyaf gogleddol o’r ffordd, i mewn i Gaergybi, ym 1823. Gellir ystyried bod y bwa yn ategu Marble Arch Llundain, a adeiladwyd ym 1828 ac a symudwyd i’w leoliad presennol ym mhen deheuol yr A5 yn y 1850au. Addas iawn gan fod yr A5 bellach yn cychwyn wrth y bwa yn Llundain ac yn cyrraedd pen ei thaith wrth y bwa yng Nghaergybi.
Mae porthladd Caergybi yn taflu ei gysgod dros y cylch, ac wedi gwneud hynny am ganrifoedd. Fel Tywysog Cymru, agorodd Edward VII y harbwr newydd yng Nghaergybi ym 1873, ac eto ym 1880 pan gwblhawyd estyniad i’r harbwr. Er nad oes cofnodion penodol o ymweliadau Edward VII ag harbyrau eraill yn Sir Fôn, mae ei ymweliadau â Chaergybi yn dangos ei gefnogaeth i ddatblygiad o’r fath yng Nghymru.
O.N. Gwaharddwyd y Frenhines Caroline rhag mynychu coroni ei gŵr hi hyd yn oed, dim ond tair wythnos ynghynt. Roedd yr Arglwydd Hood wedi ysgrifennu i roi gwybod y byddai'r Frenhines yn mynychu'r seremoni. Derbyniodd ateb prydlon yn dweud bod y brenin ddim eisiau hynny. Er gwaethaf hyn, ac anogaeth ei chynghorwyr cyfreithiol, roedd Caroline yn benderfynol. Ceisiodd y Frenhines yng nghwmni yr Arglwydd Hood fynedfa i Abbaty Westminster drwy sawl drws a gwrthodwyd ym mhob un. Dywedodd Hood wrth geidwad y drws, a oedd yn ôl pob tebyg yn un o'r paffwyr proffesiynol a oedd wedi'u cyflogi ar gyfer y digwyddiad: "Rwy'n cyflwyno i chi eich brenhines, ydych chi'n gwrthod ei gadael hi i mewn?" Yr ateb bob tro oedd na allai dderbyn neb heb docyn.
