I jest! Okay. So, as you can probably gather from my reblogs, I am a huge fan of Jackie Chanโs work. Iโve seen more of his filmography than I will ever admit to under threat of death, and Iโve been revamping an old informal essay I wrote about the emotional appeal and catharsis of his movies. The kind of stuff that makes us root for him, how itโs informed by his experiences. I donโt think itโs anything that hasnโt been articulated by someone else, but I figured Iโd give it a spin with some pointed examples from the summer where I did a massive deep dive.
Iโm basically just proofreading said essay to sound less embarrassing than I was when i originally drafted it. Itโs definitely going up on this blog now that Iโve made this place my movie essay hub.
