Carter is irrationally afraid of rollercoasters, Lee is irrationally afraid of needles. If you confront either of them about this they will Lie and then walk face first into a situation guaranteed to make them start crying

Lee is adopted. A police officer and his wife took him in when he was around 11.

Letting them do karaoke together is a mistake because they’re going to scream Beach Boys songs and feed off each other’s energy

They wonder why people think they’re together and yet they still Never get separate hotel rooms when they’re out on investigations. Which just makes it easier when they do hookup, honestly. It’s mostly just cheapness that motivates it though. They both grew up having to share rooms with others and just don’t have hangups about it.

Carter shaved his mustache in Rush Hour 2 because Lee made an off-handed comment about how it’d probably help him stand out less (ie. he thought Lee would like it). He comes out of Lee’s bathroom the next morning and this man is grinning and poking his cheeks “you have a baby face!”. He decides he Never Shaving Again.

Lee and Han were schoolmates and pals as teenagers. Han went to law school and Lee went to the police academy. Lee introduced Han to his wife/Soo-Yung’s mother, who he worked with. He’s Soo-Yung’s godfather.

My hot take is that Carter and Lee both THINK the kind of sex they’re having is freak nasty, but actually it’s incredibly vanilla. It’s lovemaking with a bit of slap-slap kiss.

Also, regarding kink. They hate being tied up 😭 they’re both so annoyed by the fact that it’s happened to them several times that the idea of doing it again is so unfun. Neither of them are the bondage type anyway.

Carter does his own maintenance on the Corvette, mostly to save himself the haggling (arguing) with the mechanics over price.

Lee and Carter have a ‘no sex in the workplace’ rule after they almost get caught going at it in the custodian closet. The stakeout car does not count as the workplace.

I’ve thought a bit about how Lee gets to stay in the US after 1/2 and it’s a bit like this: Han offered him a job when he was first appointed the Consul position. Lee declined, mostly because he felt obligated to see the Juntao case and Ricky Tan through to the end. He goes back to Hong Kong for a couple months. Thinks on it a bit and realizes that all his loose ends are tied up. Everything’s back to ‘normal’, which isn’t bad, but he’s feeling pretty bereft. Decides he’ll take Han up on the job and work as part of his security team to stick close, occasionally ferry Soo-Yung around— because who is better for the job? And if a liiiiiiittle bit of it is because he’s attached to Carter, then it can’t exactly hurt. Then somebody (Han) gets the bright idea to establish a joint initiative ‘in cooperation’ with the LAPD for diplomatic relations. Mostly to give Lee something to do that isn’t putting his security team through their paces.

On Soo-Yung: She thinks Carter is cool. She does not think Lee is cool. Welcome to the family effect, everyone. Both of them end up taking her and her friends to the mall enough that she doesn’t even ask if he’s coming anymore.
