Me and my friend have the most intense competition going on. We both ride the same bus, and we're both really lazy, so we always try to get the other person to watch for the bus at the end of the school day. So, we came up with the bus rule: either participant may shout 'not it' at any time after the final bell rings, provided they are outside and within hearing range of the other. It is truly a game of strategy and skill, a battle of wits. We each try to silently sneak up to the other, like a ninja, blending with the crowd, to shout the glory words into each other's ears.

Some of the verses for this song are the ones everyone knows. They get run through pretty quickly and early in the game. They are the verses that teach the newbies how to play.
Jack and Jill went up a hill
To fetch a pail of water

Once you get through Jack & Jill, Old Mother Hubbard, Little Jack Horner, Old King Cole, etc. you get to the game portion of the song.
This is when the next verse isn't obvious. So you have to think of a nursery rhyme that can fit the strictures of the song before the chorus finishes.

You take turns going around the circle. Whoever cannot add a verse is out. Everyone still sings choruses though.
