I am always asking mum what she would like to eat then buy from the same stall for myself based on her preferences. Today, she wants Fish Fillet Aglio Olio 🐟🍝 (鱼扒蒜香意面) from Western Boy Express, so I got myself the Chicken Steak Aglio Olio 🐓🍝 (鸡扒蒜香意面). Most of the time, I would top up the three bucks to get the set meal which included cheesy fries 🧀🍟, salad 🥗 and mushroom 🍄🟫 soup.
Yeah, it is just me having dinner tonight, so I headed straight to my favourite budget sushi takeaway outlet - Sushi GoGo (争鲜gogo). Picked the Popular Seafood Bento (S$7) with two types of salmon, prawn 🦐 and squid 🦑 sushi. The grilled salmon belly 🐟 brushed with sushi sauce and topped with sesame seeds is the best tasting of the lots.
I will fall back to my favourite Aburi Salmon Bento (S$6.50) if there aren’t any new flavours or promotion to entice me. The slices of salmon are bigger and thicker than the raw fish sushi 🍣 so it offers better value. I like that the fish 🐟 is seared with a blowtorch then brushed with savoury sushi sauce and sprinkled with white sesame seeds.
Sis used the points accumulated on the Sushi Express App to redeem this Tote Bag. Made of cloth with drawing of sushi 🍣 printed on it. Mum said the handles are too long as she preferred to hand carry rather than sling it on the shoulder.
Yes, we are getting takeaway dinner from Western Boy Express again. Mum had her Fish Fillet Aglio Olio (鱼扒蒜香意面) with a few pieces of golden-brown crispy fried fish 🐟 covering the entire container of spaghetti 🍝. She usually gives me some of the fish as it is too much for her to finish alone.
I got the Chicken Steak Aglio Olio (鸡扒蒜香意面) set meal by adding an additional S$3. It comes with creamy cheesy fries 🧀🍟, leafy salad 🥗 with dressing and gummy bowl of mushroom soup. The well-seasoned chicken is pan-fried with crispy skin and juicy meat to go with the olive oil based al dente noodles. 🍝
Back to my Chicken & Egg Brunch which mum bought from her morning trip to the market. A golden-brown and crispy chicken drumstick 🍗 with an over easy egg. I like my fried egg 🍳 with the yolk still molten. Between sunny side up and over easy egg, I always go for the latter because the egg white is all firmed up. Besides, the person cooking it must have good flipping skill to not break the yolk. 👍 The other dish is stewed fried bean curd skin with steamed rice.

Brought mum out to dine at the Kopitiam Food Hall at the MRT train station. After letting mum survey the food court, she chose the Economy Rice (菜饭) stall. I chose a piece of braised pork belly (卤猪肉), stewed egg tofu and savoury pork. Mum had sweet & sour pork and bean curd to go with the steamed rice.
This Stir-Fry Medley is a mixture of leftovers and new ingredients. The leftovers being the pork belly 🐖 and spicy red snapper 🐟 from yesterday’s dinner and the new ingredients are bean curd, minced pork and prawn 🦐. Mum also fried a few Red Snapper Fillets 🐟 to go with the steamed jasmine rice.
Here is my cup of less sweet milk tea ☕️ and pastries sis bought from downtown. Those on the left are Sweet Tau Sar Piah (甜豆沙饼) filled with sweetened mung bean 🫘 paste. The dome-shaped ones are Walnut & Lotus Seed Paste Pastries (核桃莲蓉酥) with sweet lotus seed paste inside a crumbly pastry embedded with walnuts.
