Hi Liz, just dropping in to tell you something nuts that happened the other day (warning - more BTS fans shenanigans). So I was in a group chat and we were talking about a KPop group called Monsta X that's really good friends with the group I like, Seventeen. And someone came in who was "anti Monsta X being friends with Seventeen because BTS is so much better and Monsta X should be friends with BTS instead" and I was speechless.
Ugh why are some BTS stans like that?
You were talking about toxicness in the BTS fandom a while ago, and I'm getting annoyed because I'm watching this drama called Hwarang (which by the way I definitely recommend it's amazing) but a member of the band is playing a really minor character, so in one corner of the screen there's a little corner with past comments and basically all of them are "Tae!!! Where is TaeOppa?" which really takes me out of this series that otherwise I'm really enjoying.
Yeahhh BTS fans seem very... overzealous that way, I’m not surprised to hear them doing that
1] The kpop talk reminds me of the 1% rule of fandom. That there's always going to be a small percentage of wacko crazy fans and the larger the fandom the more noticeable they are because the bigger the number of aggregate fans then the more people there are in that 1%. Kpop is super, super popular and has a pretty massive following so the people who are wacko seem to be really, really loud and then people mistake them for the majority. But I have faith they're actually aren't

old bts fan and tbh it's tough seeing our fandom become the very thing we once united against, back in 2016/2017 you still had exo fans and others from groups of the Big 3 agencies who ranted on bts themselves for winning this or that award. now the new crop of armys is repeating past mistakes that WE were targeted with and it hurts, history repeats itself but I'd hoped my fandom would've known better considered our boys started from the bottom too
