As much as the stereotypical depiction of creoles as lightskinned black looking people with light eyes and loose hair contributes to the misconception of creole identity, the dna tests that are available certainly contribute as well.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but for most dna tests they have racialized the groups Creole and Cajun. By that I mean they’ve done stuff like this
I can see the case for Acadia and Cajun, but sorting Creole into certain racial groups imo isn’t helpful when it comes to understanding what Creole identity is. You don’t have to be Black or part of a Black diaspora to be Creole. All being Creole means is that your family was in Louisiana pre-Louisiana Purchase. It’s an ethnicity, not a racial group. DNA tests, realistically, should be listing it where Creole is an option for Indigenous, Black, European, and Asian(to include the Filipino creoles) diasporas.
Edit: Cajuns should’ve been included as a subcategory of Creole. All Cajuns are Creole, but not all Creoles are Cajun. Cajuns can also be any race as well
