Hi Liz, just dropping in to tell you something nuts that happened the other day (warning - more BTS fans shenanigans). So I was in a group chat and we were talking about a KPop group called Monsta X that's really good friends with the group I like, Seventeen. And someone came in who was "anti Monsta X being friends with Seventeen because BTS is so much better and Monsta X should be friends with BTS instead" and I was speechless.

This is a personal observation but i’ve noticed that virulent antis in anime/cartoon fandoms tend to be hardcore kpop stans too. Like, they get pissy when people ship fictional characters but then go around and write fanfic of their kpop idols who are *actual real people*. Do they get the irony in that?

1] The kpop talk reminds me of the 1% rule of fandom. That there's always going to be a small percentage of wacko crazy fans and the larger the fandom the more noticeable they are because the bigger the number of aggregate fans then the more people there are in that 1%. Kpop is super, super popular and has a pretty massive following so the people who are wacko seem to be really, really loud and then people mistake them for the majority. But I have faith they're actually aren't

This is seriously funny lmaooooo no hate to bts but I'm laughing at your anons and their shared deep hatred towards bts fans lmaoooo and what does bts stand for anyway? Behind The Scene? Genuine question here lol but yo they must be really toxic if people band together to share their horror stories about bts fans afagahahajaj thank god I'm not into kpop shit. It sounds like a freaking nightmare.

Oh wow Liz u got a lot of Kpop asks! Let me add one more to the pile I recently got into a group called SEVENTEEN that does lovely work (they write and choreograph their songs themselves also have u ever seen 13 guys dance perfectly in sync it is lit) and they won the Best Male Dance award at the big Korean music awards and I went to watch their performance on YouTube and what do I get? A bunch of Armys screaming that BTS should've won instead 🙄 Like BTS has enough awards can y'all chill

You were talking about toxicness in the BTS fandom a while ago, and I'm getting annoyed because I'm watching this drama called Hwarang (which by the way I definitely recommend it's amazing) but a member of the band is playing a really minor character, so in one corner of the screen there's a little corner with past comments and basically all of them are "Tae!!! Where is TaeOppa?" which really takes me out of this series that otherwise I'm really enjoying.

I don't really know where all the kpop fandom salt came from but I just find it depressing how terrible kpop stans are. I actually really like kpop, but aside from reddit (where cooler heads seem to prevail... usually) I stay the fuck away from the fandom because the stans honestly scare me. it's like voltron antis fell into a pit of toxic waste and went full on fucking godzilla mode istg.
