So remember those Pokémon doodles I did last summer about a Chikorita and Goodra going on adventures? I decided I'm going to do another round of them this summer! I had a bunch of ideas that I never had time for, including a conclusion but I just had too much uni work to do more than a sketch! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to tell that conclusion before I start "season 2" (tentative name), but season 2's going to have an expanded cast and multi-panel stories. It's a fun challenge telling stories without dialogue.

I'm working on a little world-building at the moment, just things like the name of the location and why Ripple and Pistachio are there. It's going to be a very low-stakes, comfy and silly set of stories.

A Tribute to Akira Toriyama

I don't usually post tribute art, I'm generally not the type to share my grief publicly. I'm not a good speaker. I feel awkward trying to express my feelings, trying to strike a balance between what I feel like I should say and terrified people will take me as insincere.

However I still want to share my feelings on Akira Toriyama's passing, even if I can't articulate exactly what I want to say. "Grief" is maybe a strong word - I didn't know the man - but I can't express what an impact this man and his work had on my life. Toriyama's work has been present through most of my life - from Dragonball Z in my preteens, to Chrono Trigger in my early 20s, Dragon Quest in my late 20s, and back round to the Dragonball franchise in my early 30s. It goes without saying that he's been an influence on my art and storytelling.

This probably wasn't obvious, given I'm not as vocal about Dragonball as my other fandom interests. I've always wanted to make Dragonball-related art, especially with how much I loved DBS Broly and Super Hero, but I've just never gotten round to it. Feels pretty sad that this is what provoked me into it.

I really just don't know what to say. I really struggled to put this post together. I felt like I should put a quote on the artwork, but that didn't feel right either. I don't think anything I could say or do or draw could ever express how much Toriyama meant as a creator to me. Even though I made fun of his lack of faces or reused designs from time to time, it was out of a place of affection, because it was just a trait of his work, and I loved his work. He was just great.

All I can really say at the end of the day is "thank you".

Valuable use of my Sunday

This isn't absolute and sometimes there is crossover between terminology cause my brain turns into goo around big floompy dogglescruffs. It's based more on feeling than size/coat type.

So I was working on today’s Undertale Month drawing when my computer bluescreened.

I hadn’t saved the file, and I was almost done with inking. I was so happy with how it turned out, and then in a moment it was gone.

Fortunately, I’d sent a screencap of the sketch and this part of the outline to a friend on Skype so I don’t have to start from complete scratch. I can’t describe how annoyed I am at myself more than this face can. XD

Hey folks, just wanted to give a little rundown of what I have planned for this year. Please keep in mind this is all tentative, and I don’t have any set dates for any of this going into action.

1. Get Wandering Wyveria into the top 1500 on Top Web Comics! This is the big goal. It’ll help boost WW’s exposure and bring in new readers!

2. Start taking commissions! I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, but trouble with time management means it’s always been something I struggled with.

3.

Get more involved with my favourite fandoms.

I love making fanart for Pokémon and Undertale especially, and I’ve had a lot of ideas for fancomics for various series. Whether I’ll actually get round to them is another story!

Practise drawing faster.

Hello everyone! A few updates.

I've escaped the smelly claws of Twitter and now have a Bluesky profile! I like the vibe there much better and I feel more safe about posting my art there, so I'll be dual posting here and on Bluesky.

I didn't get too far on that Catober challenge, did I? XD Work's been really taking it out of me but I still want to chip away at a few challenges.

I'm aware I have a lot of messages in my ask box, I'll be getting to them ASAP.
